It appeared that the B-17 that has been currently buzzing the fortress is on tour and stayed with us throughout the 4th of July Weekend.

I had a some time to kill Sunday so I headed over to get a closer look...

And discovered to my surprise it was the "Liberty Belle"

Sweet!

Every July 4th weekend, the Collings Foundation as the Nine-O-Nine (B-17)and the All American aka Dragon and her Tail (B-24 actually the only fully restored flying B-24) where I live. They buzz my house all day long giving rides. Didn't go and see them this year as Saturday was Faire day and Sunday was clean faire garb, relax and recoup for the work week. I've seen those planes almost every year. Last year I didn't have my camera as it was in the repair shop. Oh well maybe in the future I will see them again. They had a B-25 with them last year s well as the twin seat P-51. The P-51 was with them this year.

OH a friend of mine took a ride in them many years ago ($350) for a 30 minute ride. He had a friend who was best friends withthe pilot and they let him take the controls for 15 minutes. He took video looking down the bomb site. Said it was a real thrill to ride in it.

The plane called Nine-O-Nine is not it's original name and used to be a slurry bomber. I found that out last year and often wonder if it was one my Uncle used to fly. He also flew the PB4-Y Privateer (Navy version of the B-24

Okay, so I was out on business to the airport in South St. Paul on Friday, and as I was leaving, saw this little guy getting pulled out of a hangar.  What is it?  I could have fit this little thing in my trunk, seriously.  The wingspan couldn't have been more than 10 feet.  It was really, really tiny.

Looks to be a Piper Tri Pacer.  Might be a 50% scale R/C job if only @10' :o
My intentions are to commandeer a venue, sail to Tortuga, then pick, strum and otherwise play me weasily black guts out.

Sir William Marcus

You know, I was thinking with a 10' wingspan its almost gotta be an RC Then again perhaps its a custom kit? Wish I knew,  I really dunno

Maybe 10 feet was a bit conservative of a guess.  Could have been bigger, but not much.  Maybe 14ft?  If you look at the shadow the wings are casting, they are about the same size as the one lane path it's parked on.  It looked like it was just big enough for one person to sit in.  Pretty sure it wasn't RC at that size.
