My heart just sank.  Saw this on the FB fire page posted by someone:

Montgomery County Police Reporter
MAGNOLIA FD BOOSTER HAS SPOTTED A POSSIBLE ARSONIST ON THE BACK OF THE FIRE

I really hope and pray this is not true!  :'(

I hope it is not true either.  But on another note, after firefighters cut fire lanes, they sometimes will start a fire to burn back towards the incoming fire.  Which will kill the fire's source of fuel faster.

They caught a group of teen arsonists on another fire, but not this one, so I dunno if that was a separate suspect or someone confusing the two.

Prayers and hopes to everyone down there near the fires. Those things are so devastating.  Hopefully a good non-hurricane-tropical storm rolls up soon and gets you guys some decent rain.

Thanks for this Breandan.  Sounds like some parents didn't spank and ground their arses and enough.   >:(

Montgomery County Emergency Public Information

Above have a map of the burn area and evacuation areas for Montgomery County.  Last report from the Montgomery Sherriff's Dept had the fire 40-50% contained.

On my way home and on the way to work this morning I could smell the fire on IH 45, which is good news for the grounds as it means the winds are blowing away from there.

Wildfires continue to burn across Texas

Update:

"The big fire that's burning at the borders of Montgomery, Waller and Grimes County is between 80 to 85 percent contained, which is a huge improvement from last night."

The firefighters and their families should get free tickets this season!

Does anyone have any updates on fire locations? Smoke has gotten REALLY thick in our area and there's a lot of fire truck activity at code 3 levels. The Wunderground map is broken, doesn't display the fires anymore for current dates, and I am having a hard time digging up anything other than the Todd Mission and Bastrop fires. Anything east of the Todd Mission one?

I haven't seen anything.  I believe the wind shifted which may be the reason you are seeing smoke... ???
