So...... it's dark, there's weird streaks of light flashing from the sky and rumbling sounds out here.... hhhmmmm wonder what this means?  :)

Alien invasion???

LOL, It might as well have been, we didn't see a lot of rain for all that bluster... some but not what we thought it was going to give us.

Went to Home Depot and got my solar garden lights, 6 ft. metal poles (ok, so I do have to cut them that length) and Rust-o-leum.  Making my own "tiki torches" this weekend!

Did the same thing only got my lights at Big Lots they were only a dollar there.  Still have to cut the PVC pipe but had that in my scarp pin,  Didn't think of painting them good idea got to steal that one.

Please plunder as necessary!  Truthfully, I'm happy to hear you're doing the same with the lights.  It's going to very dark at the campgrounds without fires!

My advise would be to befriend someone with a generator or check into renting one for a long weekend... That way you can use a crockpot  or electric skillet to cook food or reheat what you bring. I have lived with these items before when other options were not there and it is easily doable...good luck.... if more than a couple of people chip in to buy/rent one then it will take care of a huge group!

I hate generators, so it is awfully funny that I ended up a member of the most mechanized clan(McLot) in the campgrounds. ;D  But I love my clan more than I hate generators. :-*

Right - Trade the generator noise for the iron dragon noise - Smashing!

How bout everyone go buy a whisperquiet generator as another avenue to ponder.

Its just so exciting being in the "renaissance" camp ground, sitting around a bright fire (except for this year), chatting at very high decibels so that the person across from you can hear you over the rattling of a four stroke china built 300 cc motor.  Yee Haw.

Pardon me if I prefer a campground where I can hear drums a quarter mile away.  I'd much rather hear the sounds of laughter and camaraderie.

And now that we are way off topic - Though I did mention the lack of fires - How bout those electric lights we'll all be investing in this year (o:

Not even gonna knock 'em here.  I fully intend on investing in a whole house standby when I get some extra cash.  They have their place - no doubt.

It is worth investing in a decent generator that is some what quite.  Though the one I will be using this year will be on my motorhome.  It is some what quite, but still able to be heard.  You can talk while sitting next to it.

And I do agree with the idea of being able to camp with only the sounds of drum in the background.  But with all of the super loud music and such from certain areas of the campground, the nice purrrrrr of a generator puts me to sleep when the time comes for my head to slam into my pillow.   ;D

But since we are still on the topic of generators, it is very important to stay away from those super cheap chinese made generators.  You know the ones.  The ones whos name you can not pronounce, let alone spell when you are not looking right at it.  I have seen some of those catch fire due to cheaply made parts.  This could cause an issue in the dry areas of the campgrounds.  Just an FYI.
