festmum may be headed back to Tennessee sooner than she thought...Hard to imagine that the company she works for will be open for business anytime soon.

A little slow to put these up, we've been doing a lot of repairs and clean-up and such (although the fence is just gonna have to lay in pieces in the yard for a while, we can't afford the wood to replace it), but here's a few pictures I took on the way back into town from our Gustav bugout. It's mostly downed trees and some shots of the military rolling into town to help us out. Also, there's two photos of the HORRID traffic we were stuck in for 8 hours during the evacuation trying to get to out of the state.

It looks like Ike is now headed for Corpus. I'm sure Houston in relieved, but so far the predictions on this storm have only been about half right.

Maybe....who knows. The projected storm path has been bouncing from Brownsville to Matagorda Bay and points in between all day. Either way, south, central, and southeast Texas are likely to get a good soaking.

Ike has definitely picked up speed. Its close to being a Cat 2 again already this morning.

Has anyone heard if Festmum is still okay?
I'm seeing news reports that 4000 people on Grand Turk have no homes and British Navy ships have arrived with aid.

4,000?  Wow.  That is mind-boggling.  It feels like the whole country has been holding its breath waiting to see what Ike will do next.

Ike's one hell of a storm. Those of you who live in coastal Texas, please stay safe.

We are leaving Victoria, TX and headed to San Antonio.  Will be leaving tomorrow morning!  I just moved here a year ago from further inland and I am not used to having to do all of this.   >:(
