Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Thanks cecils! I hope to see you over in Janesville this May if you go.

i did get over to SR HArris once again to get more piping. What I had bought the last times was gone. I did find another piping in the same color scheme, just a different order. It should not cause too much distraction in the finished product for the 17th Century ensemble.

I also found some fabric for the Captain Jack Sparrow coat I need to have made and sent to Alabama before Memorial Day weekend. It's a Grey Blue loose weave cotton Drapery Fabric that will be perfect. It was standing there today. FUNNY how I did not see it 2 weeks ago when I was there. That is the thing about SR Harris. Some of the film stills from the PoTC films shows a coat in that color scheme, depending on the light. It will work far better than the client has now.

I also reworked the shoulder ruffs on Lady Kett's Venetian gown, sewed in the hooks and eyes for the sleeves to attach, as well reenforced  the lace ruff on the Partlet. I have some finishing things to do on that gown, make a pillbox as well.

The Navy Blue Velveteen arrived for the Tudor Overgown for Lady Kett's dautghter. With the phortos sent to me to make the gown a better fit over the muslin that did not. The other components are finished.

Working on a project for TokiBloodaxe now. This is going to be an enmsemble of a Doublet in Burgandy Diamond fabric, Overjerkin in Corduroy, Paned Slops, a burgandy Shirt with Gold decorative stitching, and Arched tall Hat.

The Overjerkin is finsihed. Tomorrow I work on the slops. I have Elizabeth making the shirt for me to finish and preparing the Doublet for me by underlining the outer fabric. I will finish that as well.

For the Front of the Overjerkin, I took a Simple Doublet pattern and adapted it into Slashed pieces. The Doublet fabric can be seen from underneath. The Paned Slops will have the same trims that are on the Jerkin.

That looks real shnazzy/sharp! (Shnarp?) I like that red/gold trim. Do you have a close-up shot of it?
Can't wait to see the rest!

Meanwhile, I'm just a doublet away from finishing my current project! Which excites me so much because I have one dress for myself in progress I'll restart on after this. And fabric and designs for three more after that!

This is my current project for a fellow cast-member who will be portraying Sir Thomas Gresham. To catch up on the whole story: http://theradclyffe.blogspot.com/2012/04/new-project-sir-thomas-gresham.html

Cecils!

The Gold, Black, and Red trim, I ordered from Cheep Trims. They have some decent Jacquard trims for very reasonable. I am going to use the same trim on ther panes of the slops I will be getting ready to cut out today.

Photos of the Trims and Burgandy Shirt Collar. Toki requested a burgandy Shirt to wear with the Overjerkin on warmer days. Great idea!! The Collar on the Overjerkin, I drew out on the fabric to give a more Spanish feel to it.

The unfinished Paned Slops. I have yet to sew in the leg bands, waistband with Belt loops, closures, add some stuffing, and sew the  inner lining.

Toki Bloodaxe's Paned Slops are finished. My fingers are raw from the hand sewing. But I am very pleased with the results.

I had made some adjustments because I made 2 panes too many for the waistband. So I took them off and used them for the Belt loops. Down in the back room where much of my stash is kept, i found some Crinolin I took off a wedding dress several years ago that proved to be excellent filler for the poofiness. To give the Slops that Pumpkin look. There are closures at the leg and waist band. Along with some down the front. I also made a modesty flap so there would be coverage in the event one of the closures were to break.

Elizabeth did a fantastic job in getting the Doublet ready for me to finish, as well as the Burgandy shirt. I plan to sew all day tomorrow after I get some Alterations done and straight on through Sunday. More photos to follow.

The finished Paned Slops.

Hubby wants paned slops like these, is that the MA pattern?

The Pattern I used for this pair of paned slops is the one from Fantasy Fashions. I have used the Margo Anderson pattern, but prefer the FF instead when it comes to Paned Slops.

It was Toki who came up with design and color scheme. Smart man, that  Toki is!  ;)
