Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Thank you Evie!

Progress on the Overjerkin. All Pearled, with a little handsewing to do.

Tomorrow the Panes for the Slops.

The Paned Slops are coming along. I still have the Inner Lining to sew in, the waistband, a little Crinolin for some poof, well as make the Leg bands. The fabric under the panes is a Fine Silk.

Better shot showing the Pearling and trims.

Wow, Lady K--that is really striking! It definitely has a little goth thing going on; it would look smashing with the Elizabeth Bathory gown you made last year!

Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Thank you for the compliment, gem.

The Doublet for this ensemble and the leg bands are going to be made from the left over Velveteen I used for the Elizabeth Bathory gown. I have a White Shirt to finish for this ensemble as well.

All I have to do on the paned Slops is sew the waistband and leg band linings down and sew in the Closures.

The White Shirt is finished. Now on to the Doublet.

Well, since I start playing at KCRF Sept. 1, I decided I had better start sewing my kirtle.  Here is the bodice interlining I finished yesterday.  It is cotton duck with cable tie boning.  Totally winging it pattern wise... so here's hoping it will end up ok.

Raven, that looks lovely! I can't wait to see more, especially so I can keep an eye out for you this season! (KCRF is my home fair.)

While watching O;lympic Coverage, I worked on the Doublet, sewing on the closures, lacing rings, then more on the Skops. I will have them finished tomorrow.

Almost finished. A few more tweaks here and there, and this is ready to debut at the 2012 Minnesota Renaissance Festival.

Next year, the client wants a new hat and cloak to finish this off.

That is piping along the edges you see,Richard. I buy it at Hobby Lobby  or Jioann's in the Decorator Fabrics section.

It looks like the piping from the front two picadills (closest to the opening) continues up along the front of the doublet.  Is this a single piece of piping, or two (one for the picadill, one for the front of the doublet).  How do you accomplish this with a single piece, or hide the seam if using two separate pieces of piping?

Just trying to pick your brain, all of the work you've shown on this site is amazing.

Thank you, Sir Niall. I strive to do my best with each piece I do.

The piping going down one side of the front is one single piece. Each of the Picadils are singly piped, then lined. As is the Collar. The trick is lining the Piped pieces up just so that it looks like one continuous line.

I would have done the piping down both sides in Front, but I did not have enough. I bhought what Piping there was  left on the roll. I had 7" left. That's cutting it short.
