Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

The forepart to the Underskirt is pearled. Now on to the Sleeves.

#2551
A boatload of Alterations came in once again. I managed to get the Underskirt finished for my little Queen. The sleeves are ready for me to put the Aglets on.

You can make out the Pearled diamond design.

Better shot of the pearls and trim. Mom ordered this trim from France. The pins are for the hem that I still have to hand sew.

I drafted a pattern for the sleeves.

The fabric for the main parts of the gown is a linen/Cotton Blend in a lighter Purple. here will be added strips of a deep purple corduroy for a striking contrast.. The Italian Bonnet will be made of the Purple Corduroy as well.

The Overskirt for my Little Queen is finished. I added a darker Purple Corduroy as an accent fabric that adds a stunning contrast to the skirt snd over all look. The Bodice will be next. I will incorporate the darker fabric into the bodice to tie it in with the Overskirt.

I am off to make the Italian Bonnet in the darker Corduroy. The Hat Band will be pearls with Metal coated plastic vermeil beads. I hve a lovely Brooch to set it off as well as plumes tht will say.. LITTLE ROYAL.

That is turning out so beautiful!   I love it!  You are exactly right about the dark purple cordaroy.   It really makes it all pop!

Afer getting some Alterations done, I made the Italian Bonnet out of the darker Purple Corduroy.

Oh, Lady K--I think this is my favorite thing you've made!! Those sleeves are *divine.*

Alexandra Johanna

My first project that is mostly from a sketch and my own creativity. I used a simplicity pattern to start off with for the bodice, but I didn't like how the neckline was cut in the front or back, so I only used the back portion and then altered the design to have a square neckline. I probably could have skipped using the pattern completely. This is for my 15-year-old daughter's faerie garb. The colors are inspired by the blue and black wings she received from Gossamer Wings for her birthday this Spring. I need to sew the tendrils on, they are just pinned to the dress form for now to make sure I had enough. And do the grommets for the lacing front and back. The tendrils will also have clear beads and silver stars on the ends to weigh them down a bit and add more "bling". It will be worn over a light blue cotton chemise with long bell sleeves.  This is also the first project I used the new serger machine on, for adding the black rolled edge to the tendrils... 16 of them in about an hour and a half. It's a Godsend!

Thanks! I'll try to get a picture of her with the entire outfit soon. She tried it on with her wings, but said it was weird over a tshirt and shorts. LOL

Haven't started it yet but this will become and Elizabethan Kirtle in about another month, hopefully:

I only have 3 yards of the trim so I hope to use it all on the neckline and other places on the bodice.  I want matching orangy yellow sleeves and I already have a green apron to go with the soon to be dress.  :-)

Finally had time to sew again, yet another kirtle!

All that is left is fingerloop braiding the second lacing cord, binding the hem and making some sleeves.
