I firmly believe the problem is not that you have too much fabric, but that you have too little waist.  ;D

It's looking gorgeous, and I have to say it's great to see an in-progress version of the Tudor Tailor kirtle. I tried it a couple years ago and really struggled with how low the neckline was. It's nice to see that, yes, it REALLY IS that low in real life! (I was trying to replicate something with the kirtle neckline way up near the collarbones, and finally gave up! Hoping to have better luck with The Queen's Servants.) Do you have plans for an overgown?

CenturiesSewing

Stah, that is a great color on you!

Wickedvox

I agree with Centuries ^^^ And it's just lovely in general! I think the fit is very nice! It's just a beautiful dress :)

Your gown in beautiful, SS.  I have a stupid question, though.  I don't see any lacings or hooks.  How do you get it on and off?  Over your head?  Just curious!

You can barely see it, but there are laces up the sides.

VERY nice, SilverStah!

I know what you mean about the difficulties of fitting on yourself--it's fortunate that you have a coworker who can help you with that.

And I agree with you: jewel tones DO look good on you!

Silverstah, I join the OMG beautiful! choir. The fit is lovely, I think, and that colour was MADE for you!

Making "pirate" garb for my son.  Starting with the waistcoat, before making the greatcoat.  Made the muslin mockup before cutting out the waistcoat fabric; thank goodness for mock ups!  It was too small!  Now we need to go up in size on the cheap stuff before cutting out the good stuff!

This is the first time (for me) that the pattern size was too small!

Wow, that's looking really nice, Silverstah.  I like the combination of colors, very elegant.

Oooh, nom!

I'd say your CB length was a tad too long in the waist.  Try pinning it out just above the waistline: if that works, just take a slice the same shape off the bottom of the bodice.  Baste the waist back together to test it before sewing and finishing, and only cut the excess off once it works.
