I have finally received a chance to work on something period. I'm overly happy since I haven't had this change in a while.

This is a start to my boys doublet. I couldn't find any trim that I liked that would match, so I started tinkering on a scrap of the same fabric and decided this looked best.

This is one of the back pieces. I will post more pictures as I can, as this was taken with my phone and not my camera.

May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

That looks very interesting. I am looking forward to seeing it come together.

Looks nice. what are you using for the trim?
Is it the wrong side of the fabric?

Three more, not so good pictures. Trying to find the right lighting to show the colors nicely is a challenge.

A front section before it hit the sewing machine.

The back sewn together. (Sides not sewn together yet. And extremely horrible lighting)

The front, bottom and sides not sewn together.

Working on the peplums now to add to the bottom. Sides are sewn together.

Sir Richard,
The pictures show the right side of the fabric. It is a dark green, with a paisley type design in a way darker green/black.
The trim is actually a medium shade of green thread sewn on the widest zig-zag width my machine allowed, and on the shortest length allowed.

I'm hand sewing a wool Regency style dress for a party I can't attend anymore; however, I always need more Regency gowns so....

This is roughly two hours of hand sewing.  Actually, it was a very small part of the 3rd quarter and most of the 4th quarter of a bad football game (Redskins vs Panthers) plus an extra 30 minutes.   I managed to sew up the lining and the facing wool fabric except for one side.  I'll finish up that side tomorrow plus start on the sleeves.

It is such a beautiful color.  It will be gorgeous when it's done.  I enjoy seeing the pictures.  Hope you will take a picture of the finished kirtle with you wearing it!     ;D

Wot she sed!

For the Royal Palaces kirtle, I started with an inverted pleat at center back and knife pleated round to the front.  The RP one does up at the front, though.

DonaCatalina

Beautiful color. And I agree with Kate on the pleating.

Why not just overlap the knife pleats?
