OMG, w/the right fabric & big cuffs, super sexy pirate coat!  Great idea!

And Auryn, I'm with you for a SP coat - poofy sleeves all the way!  trulyvictorian has a pattern that is nothing but 1890's  sleeves.  http://www.trulyvictorian.com/xcart/product.php?productid=95&cat=6&page=1

Thanks for that link Taffy, I love the sleeve in the bottom right.

Think these would be too much??
hehe
This is the pattern I'm going to use for my SP jacket- albeit with a bit less poof, I want to be able to walk through a doorway without turning sideways

{modified 3 times because I have no idea where my head is today}

Speaking from experience, these sleeves need some support.  Otherwise they wilt like a tired balloon.  Not so pretty.  I think they'd look great on this coat.

The big poofy sleeves above the waist and the sloping hips/full skirt/bustle below the waist, combined w/a corset made the waist look smaller in comparison.

This coat, worn with gathered pants, would make a cute steamy Turkish/belly dancer costume, too.

Ooooh! I like that idea!

I've been known to have a good idea.  Not often, but on occasion.

Steampunk Giants in the Street. There is a theater group that does street theater with giant puppets in Nantes, France. A friend sent me a slide show with music on one of their events. I found the slide show online but no music. See link below, click on full screen:
