DROOL!!!  That is super cool Pipere!  You always add so much character and detail to your garb... I look forward to seeing what you come up with every year (and seeing pics from BARF because you and Aaron always show up there with something out of the ordinary) at MIRF.

Lovely work and a fun costume.

I'm getting ready to start a few new projects, and realized I hadn't posted what was recently moved to my "finished and done" section of the closet.

My Venetian dress with overgown and hanging sleeves, finally on me rather then the dress form.

Pretty gold satin lining that keeps it from being a huge blob of black fabric

As I wore it to BARF this year, as it was too hot for the overgown. I didn't make the mask, it was brought back for me from Venice Italy  :)

Those are both very lovely...great job!!!  I am such a sucker for nice simple garb.  Those both look like you actually wore them in the renaissance.

Ooooh!  Great job on both!!

The fitted gown/kirtle is my favorite-est thing ever. I've tried making one, but it continues to manifest itself as deceptively simple. What pattern did you use?

CenturiesSewing

Tixi,

For the fitted over gown I used Tudor Tailor as a guide, but really just took my doublet block/pattern (one I've come up with by a mix of drafting and draping) and made a mock up of it with extra seam allowances. Then I fitted that over one of my kirtles to make sure everything was sitting where it should. The skirt of it I more or less free handed with some chalk and a yardstick.

The wool kirtle is again one of my own patterns tweaked to get the style that I needed. The skirt is just two large rectangles I think 60" wide and a few small triangle gores at the side seams to give it some flare.

I know I said this elsewhere, but I can't help saying it again:  I love both of these!   :-*

I made my 1 year old neice a fairy outfit for her bday!  I bought the wings at this great shop at Sherwood ren fair near Austin, TX.

I know the shoulder straps are a tad big, but I didn't get a chance to even measure her prior to making the outfit since it was a last minute decision.  I thought it fit smashingly and looked so great for the time I had and the fact I hadn't seen her in two months and didn't measure her!!!

Well not just that, but I wanted it to be a tad big since I want it to still fit her in the fall for TRF!!!  1 yr olds grow alot in a few months and I doubt her mom will put her in it again until we ask her to when we take her to fair in the fall.....  Her mom never put her in the outfits I made her older sister a while ago... it was really heartbreaking actually and those fit even better!!
