CecilsTanequin

Just finished my first project for the 2011 season: Elizabethan mens ensemble for the character of Edward DeVere, 17th Earl of Oxford, made for and as portrayed by yours truly (yes- we are talking gender-bending). For more pictures and the full saga please visit my blog at http://theradclyffe.blogspot.com

Wow! That is really really impressive! So well done! I love the doublet and pumpkin pants, and that cape is absolutely beautiful. Terrific job!

My chemise a la reine ensemble is complete. I put the lace (which was giving me so much trouble, since Joanns starched it!) on the sleeves yesterday. And then I did the hem this morning. I know I'll work on a hat for it this summer, before I wind up wearing it. But so far, it consists of a chemise, my bum roll, my stays (which I'm nearly half-way through binding), the blue petticoat, the chemise dress, and the taffeta sash.

Here's Antoinette wearing it:

Rebecca, I was just admiring that same lace while looking at trim this weekend! So pretty. Such a nice choice for your dress. :)

Cecils, dang! That looks absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed reading your blog and how you created the trims. Very handsome suit, and what fun to gender bend.

Ceclis That is amazing.  You are a time warp to perfection.   the stripey detail is fantastic.

Rebecca, that is sooo pretty.   So completely ladylike and delicate.    What two opposite outfits on one page!

Cecils...I love the gender bending idea! does it feel abnormal to have a codpiece? hahaha
Things are shaping up to be...
Pretty. Odd.

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback Everyone! And thanks for following the blog!

Oddly it doesn't really feel weird to have the codpiece. Dunno, guess I'm just satisfying a whole heap of Freudian theories, but it's really quite fun!

No I will not be wearing it as cast at Bristol, as from my understanding the faire has a no-cross-dressing policy for it's cast characters. If I do wear it at Bristol it would be for only part of the day for a specific bit or reason. Otherwise I will be sporting it at Janesville and possibly any other faires I visit.
