Here it is!  My first Elizabethan tall hat!   Lynn McMasters pattern.
This one is made to match the gown in progress.   Untill I can get my hands on a greenish rooster tail feather, I will use the peacock.

So, here's my new gown this past weekend- I was shocked to see the fold at the waist, DANG am I ever short waisted!  Also, I need a pic of the entire gown...

And here is Giggles this past weekend:

Cute!  I'm loving the striped one. Where did you find that fabric?

I think we found it at Mill End Textiles in Fridley, MN before it went out of business a couple of years ago.

 Thank you both!

The forepart is not that shiny, but the green shantung seems to love the flash, and you can barely see the pearls.
This project ran about $300-$350 in materials including notions, and excluding the trim I ordered specifically for this dress that didn't get here in time  :P
The narrow trim on the sleeves and hat was a Joann's find.  The buttons on the top of the sleeve are a pretty gold open work filigree, and the sleeves are tied on with stretchy hair ties, to a strip of grommet tape sewn into the armscye.

I'm thinking the skirt guards (and peplums) are begging for some trim, I just can't decide what to use....

The cartridge pleating was done the old fashioned way (I use 3 needles and a gingham strip, gathering as I go).
The pleating tape would have worked fine (I tested it on a scrap, and it produces lovely, uniform pleats), but I would have needed to machine sew it down the length of the fabric between each row.  I will save it for when I make my granddaughter's gown.

You should be very proud of that Rowan. It is a beautiful and unique dress.

  Thank you all!

I am pleased with this one, being my second effort at the MA pattern. ;D

It was much easier this time round, since I figured out the pattern instructions last time via trial and error, and only referred to them a couple of times while sewing this project for guidance on assembling the parts.
I also had the pre-fitted pattern pieces ready to go, made from the muslins last year.  My sleeves have to be a good 3" shorter than the pattern.
I did not put gores in the over skirt this time, which really helped make the velvet guards go on easier.
I did gore the poplin petticoat to add a little bulk to help keep the hoops from showing; that fashion fabric is deceptively light weight.
I plan to make a matching pouch or sweet bag to carry my phone and cards.

I'm  taking a break now...I always make Davids' matching garb first, so I can use the last of my energy on my stuff.   He told me that after seeing my gown, he wished he would have OK'd the green velvet for the front....

Rowen, I like both the gown and the doublet/venetians.  Very nice!

My new high neck hand stitched smock.  I embroidered and sewed this together in 15 days.  A close up of the embroidery and neck gusset:

It is big but the smocks are supposed to be bulky for beneath the gowns.
