This is one of two of my costumes I made to wear for MiRF 2009.  I don't generally do sleeves because the festival site is located literally in the middle of a natural wetland area, so it's incredibly humid.  This way I can make more elaborate chemises :)

I love the embroidery as well on the chemise. it reminds me of Anna's blouse in Van Helsing (worn by the beautiful Kate Beckinsale)

Thanks so much, I was inspired by the costumes in Van Helsing and really loved the blouse, although unfortunately I did not make it :( I have made blouses in the past that have lace inserts and needlework, but alas this one is not my work.  I bought it from an authentic Romanian lady.  I wanted that same feel for my costumes since my faire persona is Austro-Hungarian.

Wow...  Be off line for a couple of days and miss so much!!!
All of this is so lovely and inspirational.  The boy's robe is super cute...  In a manly-boy sort of way of course Kate ;-)

It came out really nicely, I felt.  Beautifully drafted pattern, if a bit mad in the sleeve department!

I keep wanting to make a hat to go with it...  Watch this space...

That's a beautiful dress, Sybella, and I really like the robe, Kate.

Lady Rebecca

I love those sleeves! I'm not a boy, but I would totally wear that. :)

Pumpkin sleeves, aren't they!   ;D ;D

Glad you all like it.  Fun project.  Wicked witch frock nearly finished!

OK So the new gloves are all done. Here are the photo of them.

On my new doublet made by Lady Kathleen. The colors of the gloves actually match the trim very well.

And in better lighting and my hand in them. ignore the mess below please

They are a bit tricky and once you have done one pair you learn a bunch. These are made with Boars hide leathher which is streachy and soft and easier to sew. But still some machines would not sew it as it is a little thicker than denim and solid. The leather was cheap at my local leather shop which also makes many Medieval and Renaissance things at $16 for a section 36"X46" which would be enough to make two full pairs if needed

Also if you notice the buttons on the gloves matvh the buttons on the doublet
