One thing I do love about SP is that there are few boundaries.  One can be a sky pirate, lady adventuress, survivor of some unknown continental war, scientist, time traveler, or any combination of this and more.  There is no such thing as HA because - you know - it's fantasy.

I'm going to be making up some special badges for the SP invaders on All Hallow's Eve Saturday, continuing my LandShark theme.  I will need to know who is planning to come so I know how many to make.  They will only go out to those RF'ers in SP gear and who provide me their names beforehand.  They will, therefore, be a special limited edition.  So let me hear from you!

I have joked with Toki I was going to wear my Victorian Bustle gown and hat to faire one day this year and be a Steampunk time traveler adventuress lady. Wonder how that would go since we really don't have a day of wrong?

The downside is it is designed to go with my 3.5" spiked heel granny boots. NOT a good thing to wear at CoRF and all the hills and gravel. I'd be a cripple by days end.

Laney, I have to say, as funny as the idea soudns, I would pray you wouldn't do that because I remember the hills at Colorado when I went a few years ago and that could turn out to be very dangerous to a lovely lady in heels.

Grov, you'll always be a Scoundrel, but you can come play on the SkyShark for a while, and it sounds like we're all getting the badge if we show up in SPunk...     (It'll take a while to get over the fun of saying that...  LOL) 

Laney, I agree with Elo!  Spiked heels and Faire just don't usually mix well, and ankles are very difficult to replace! 

Elo, I haven't really fleshed her out yet, but she's a Sparky girl raised in a mechanics shop, parents killed in a mysterious explosion... Orphaned at 17, she shipped off on a sky freighter as apprentice engineer.  Cruel captain, mutinous crew... yada yada... ship taken by pirates, pirate engineer killed in fracas, apprentice press-ganged into service.  Decent capt., tight crew, liked the life so she stayed...

No clue on a name for your ship, though, but I'll ruminate for a while...  LOL

Adella Edwin, the name of my character, was raised into a middle-class family, her father a pipeline engineer and supervisor. She ran away from home in her early teens, hopped onto a train and found herself in one of the larger cities, without a home and hungry. Became a street rat and was stealing and living on the streets until (insert Brookes character name)'s father, a sky pirate and mechanic picked her up and the rest was history. Joined their crew alongside my friends Brook and Casey who have not named their characters yet.

I'm not going to get a heavy backstory, I just wanted a minor idea.

Started working on my gloves today, though, I need to find some brown fabric.

Windycon science fiction convention (in the Chicago area each November) is steampunk-themed in 2009. I know the con chair, and he wants lots of costumes in attendance! And the Foglios (Phil Foglio is the one who does Girl Genius) are guests of honor at the convention.

Thanks to Margrett for the Windycon notice.  I have purchased my plane ticket & made hotel reservations.  Let your friend know he'll have a Houston attendee.  How could I do otherwise, with Professors Foglio as Guests of Honor?
