Thanks for posting the gloves photo, Lady de Laney!!  They came out wonderful. You need more buttons, let me know and I can send you more.

My finished project is extremely modest in comparison to all of the amazing work in this thread, but here it is just the same:

It's my first hand-sewn leather pouch, made from leather out of a $2.50 scrap bag from Hobby Lobby, plus a couple of pieces of rawhide and the thread that came with my sewing awl.   ;D

It was really just for practice and I gave it, along with the leather pouch kit that it was based on, to my sons. They had previously been pouchless and were quite pleased.

You deserve all the huzzahs you can get for handsewing leather.  ;)

Indeed.  And we all start with modest and work up...  It looks very nice.

Everyone, your work is absolutely wonderful.  All of you should be proud.

Lady Rebecca, is that hard to make?  I know I've been saying this for years, but I really want to learn to sew.  And now, a girlfriend has moved to the area whom I haven't seen for over 8 years, and she sews and said she would teach me.  I have a chemise pattern to begin, then I was hoping for another cloak.  My cloak from the VMS is beautiful but I think it's too fancy to wear while in pirate or wench garb, so I'd like another one.

It's soooo super easy. I had to round out the shoulders a little more than the pattern said, and I actually shortened the pattern (which is weird, since I always have to lengthen them!) so that it wouldn't drag on the ground. But otherwise, the hardest thing about this is finding a large enough table or space on the floor to cut out the pattern pieces, which are huge.

I finished sewing/painting the collar and cuffs for Hawthorne Deciduous Oakwood today! The collar I drafted myself. The cuffs are the new Butterick pattern, but I embellished them.
I painted the leaves, then appliqued them onto microsuede, lined with cotton (same fabric as the shirt) The buttons are deer antler. The beads are iridescent purple/green/gold. (woodland elf garb)
