I don't read the names.  Just grab another pack when they wear out.  Got a few pricey ones for really fine work but mostly economical packs.  Half of them might suck but it's still twice the brush for half the price.

Finally made it to Hobby Lobby today!!!  Came home with a roll of the brass foil (pretty thick, but easily bent), some really cool brass studs that I'm going to antique, some brown waxed linen thread to sew up the holes in my old tool pouch (which will look cool against the buff leather) and a bag of leather scraps from Tandy that I have special plans for...  Still have $23 left on the card!  ;D  Think I'll probably go back for the copper foil sometime this week...  LOL

Also stopped at Ace for the brass and copper wire I need for the various gizmos and jewelry pieces I'm putting together!

Priced soldering guns, and I think I'll just borrow my grandpa's... much cheaper!  Still haven't found the brass solder wire, though... maybe online.

Rani, put down the soldering gun - your spark is breaking through way too hard.  Sounds like quite a haul - I'm gonna have to check out Hobby Lobby.

I figured out that the little metal wheel attachment for my Dremel is actually a cut-off wheel, so I can cut the brass pieces for my gun, then take them to Lowe's and get them threaded for next to nothing... then all I have to do is screw them together with a threaded connector!!!

AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Wait... where am I...and what am I doing with these tools... and why are there grease smudges on my face... and how did I end up here in nothing but my corset and bloomers...?!?

I've been reading the thread and I think it is GREAT! Some friends and I are planning on dressing up for Halloween as a steampunk version of the cast of The Wizard of Oz! We don't have all the costume specs together yet but I will post some sketches or something when we get everything lined up. I will be a steampunk Scarecrow. hehehe can't wait... ;)

We had a Steampunk invasion at CORF this weekend.  Really awesome stuff!

Again with the taunting!! Prove there was a SteamPunker invasion with images!  We have that technology!  You can even edit them to a sepia tone if you prefer.

Well, A and B:

First of all, some concepts of "Tin Man" could be seen as following Steampunk........so that could go both ways. Of either getting ideas from that.......or being confused by on lookers as being that.

Secondly, LEXX might also follow that path in certain applications.

Said from the eye of an observer who watches a lot.

Humph...
even at a local SciFi/fantasy convention where there was a steampunk fashion show I heard people ask me "Livingston I presume," or "Jumanji?" when seeing my pith helmet and tropical weight Scottish officer's jacket with my kilt -even with a ray gun on my hip and goggles around my neck.

I started my Mamma Gkika bodice this weekend - keep your fingers crossed - this one's a bear.  I'm waiting for some grommets to come in so I can move on to the next step - hopefully by next weekend.

Also, an amazing source for Victorian patterns:  http://www.westernersoutfitter.com/  I bought the ripple bodice and walking skirt patterns.

Oh, sticky!!!  I'm so excited to see it when you've got it all put together, but don't forget to document the process and post it in the Projects thread!

I went to my mom's this weekend and picked up a bundle of copper wire that I actually brought back from Colorado with me (nine years ago... I know, but they're being used now!!!) that I've had sitting in her garage for years just waiting for the right project!  There's about 3lbs of copper there, and it's 12 gauge, so it's pretty thick.  It's also nicely tarnished from sitting for so long...  LOL  I'm using it for base shapes for several pieces of jewelry/gizmos I've been designing on paper, and wrapping it with much finer 20 gauge copper wire, as well as pieces of the copper foil, with various beads, gears and sparky stuff...

Can't wait to see m'boots!!!

I was doing some searching on the Steam Fashion LJ and found a couple pics of the Steampunk Invasion of the Larkspur Renaissance Faire. I'm not sure if it's the same festival as the Colorado Renaissance Faire (never been to Colorado), but at least it's one in the same state.

Also, I believe I have found a way to do a steampunk version of a selkie, after all. The best of both worlds... ^^
