Hit kind of a...sudden loss of spark lately as I'm feeling really uninspired all of sudden. Trying to find my spunkspark again.
Have a friend of mine that has made the most beautiful jacket and corset with a bustle. Gotta take photos of her soon.
Can't wait for my corset to get finished, because I'll be able to piece around that I hope.

I just scored 14 yards of 60" wide lilac taffeta for $1.50/yd at Wally World.  Can anyone guess what color my walking suit is going to be?  Now I won't feel like a complete spendthrift if I splurge on 4" venise lace to trim the skirt, and maybe some gorgeous lace appliques for the lapels.  Ooooh!

How cool is that?!?  I love it when I get a crazy bargain, especially when it's one I was gonna spend money on, anyway!  I just got a bit of a windfall today, and I'm thinkin' I might be shoppin' for a corset soon!  I've been trying to find just the right shape, but one that I wouldn't mind covering with the leather I've got without worrying about changing something really fancy.  Now I'm thinking I might just spring for the leather one, instead...  It's way more than I should spend, but it's awfully tempting!  Besides, I could always use it for Ren garb also, right?!?  (I'm lookin' for a little enabling here, or at least encouragement...  LOL)

Yeah... since I only have the one... that I just got in April!!!  LOL  But hey, I don't have an actual corset, though!!!  And yes Taffy, Grov is my favorite enabler!!!  ROFL  He always encourages me to do just whatever I want to do, and only offers cautionary words if he thinks I really need to hear them!    

GP... that is soooo full o' the Awesome!!!  You've definitely got the Spark!!!

Oh Taffy... I got something today... and I LOVE them!!! It's been years since I've worn heels, but I'll be looking for somewhere to wear these!    They're pretty hot, in a rather prim and proper way...  LOL  The black ones are cool, to, and I'll be wearing them all this fall and winter, I predict!  Thank you sooooo much... you RAWK, MammaG!!!

(I'm really hoping the prices on the tags are not what you actually paid for them, though!!!  Because if it is... then I not only owe you some serious shots at the bar, but a meal, as well!  LOL)

I am so sorry I left the tags on them - que tacky.  The brown ones were so cheap and the blacks ones were discounted, so no problemo.  But we'll go see Iris & Rose & toss back a few, hey?  I hope they fit.  You know darn well if they were in my size, they'd be in my closet!

I haven't gotten the beautiful lace up top hat yet because the dress was sent back due to being butt ugly (but here's to hoping they can fix it).  In the meantime, I took care of my hat jones with this cool baby topped with a ball governor:

The Mamma Gkika bodice continues apace, and is an almight pita.  I'm hoping to get the side modesty panels done and the majority of the bodice front done over the weekend (ordered the wrong size grommets & am waiting for yet more new ones to come in).  Once the front & modesty panels are complete, the back should be relatively simple and I'm aiming for a completion date by the end of July.  OMG, I forgot there are pearls suspended from the bodice itself.  I'm going to go leave a head size hole in some drywall.  I ordered some gloves from an Etsy artist, but she seems to have dropped off the face of the earth.  Fingers crossed, Steam Punkers!

My Boyfriend is building his own shield (terrifying to me on so many levels)  but he had to make the comment that it was going to wind up looking more steampunk than anything with all the bolts and metal bars and such.  I ended up having a dream where everything was all steampunk.  So now if my new ren infatuation isn't bad enough, now I'm interested in this. Ugh!

Yay s'Punkers! Welcome to the chaos!

I is considering on creating a livejournal community for this as I have several friends in both Austin, Dallas, and Denton who are actively working on costumes, weaponry, and technology.... Maybe maybe, before school gets busy.

Still waiting on work on the progress of my corset...am goign to have to put something together for Abney Park being in Dallas next week.  I have a blouse I found at a garage sale that is Victorian style, which tight forearms, I just need to mod it so that it has a plunging neckline...what? I am a wench after all! ;P Have a skirt I can hike up and then a black lacy slip to show at the bottom, it will be my own spin on steampunk for now. Wear my goggles after I paint them and viola! Insta-steampunk! ^_^

Just gotta get that corset... *bouncy bouncy*
