Yes, thank you so much Shawn! Although, methinks that may not be necessary at the moment. I'll be around for just a bit longer LOL.

I have a very important announcement...

At this moment, there is a massive restructuring and reformation of this clan happening. We have grown to a size where official leadership and rules are necessary for the group to function the way we need it to. We began in RF, as a very small group of people that enjoyed faire. We have added to our ranks by leaps and bounds over the past 2 years, and see that now is the time to get some more organization and improve the foundation.

Due to the restructuring, as well as the fact that our numbers are beginning to make it difficult to find a camp big enough, we are officially closing open membership to McLotofus. As soon as there is a membership process in place, as well as an established heirarchy and board, we will post any pertinent information to the current membership. This is not a notice that we will not have any new members, just not at the time being. Current members are still just that, our wonderful members.

Remember, we love you all. This is not an end, but the beginning of something great!

Alas, this saddens me greatly.  We care changing the one thing that made McLotofus different than all of the other clans.  I do not know or pretend to understand the logistics involved but I can not help feel that this decision could be the beginning of the end.  I humbly request this decision be reconsidered.

Alas, this saddens me greatly.  We care changing the one thing that made McLotofus different than all of the other clans.  I do not know or pretend to understand the logistics involved but I can not help feel that this decision could be the beginning of the end.  I humbly request this decision be reconsidered.

There has to be leadership in any organization.  A group without direction and leadership is bound to fail.  People are going to have to step up to help organize events, get information out about the clan happenings, organize the campgrounds, manage the logistics of camp space, food, etc., and all the other myriads of things that are involved in having successful outings.  A majority of people are happy with just showing up and having a good time, but it takes effort to make sure that happens and that the work gets done where no one person is taken advantage of.  Everyone should pull his/her own weight, but we know this rarely happens.

At some point, this group would become too large to manage.  There will eventually reach a breaking point if we do not carefully consider how large we can be without needing further organization and potentially breaking the group into smaller factions to handle logistics on better attended weekends/gatherings.

I really think the RF group itself is what Mclotofus represents.  A group of people with similiar interests meeting to talk and hang out at the fair.  RF represents what Mclotofus was created to do, but RF doesn't have to manage all the logistics of a camp ground and the other events that take place.  I know some people do not like the idea of leadership, but that is unrealistic.  Anarchy has never and will never work.  If you all want the group to have staying power, changes will need to be made.

I am aware of the leadership problem and that is not what saddens me.  It is the ending of open membership.  That was singularly the main difference between McLotofus and the others.

Teach is right and yes, it still works that way...if you want to be a member of Clan McLotofus, then you already are!!!  Yes! It's that simple!

Likewise, if you don't want to be a member, then your not, although I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to be a member...we attend renaissance faires and festivals...we have lots of fun...we have loki and rum...what more could you want???  ;D

Ah, the good old days....

Well on the note of needing people to help out or to assign tasks to I would like to take this opportunity to offer my help in any way needed, weather it be setting camp or any other needs I would be more than happy to help. Just let me know what is needed and I will do my best to accomodate said needs.

Thanks for all the offers everyone! As soon as we get the schematics nailed down, I'm sure we'll need all the help we can get. I'll keep everyone posted!

Why can't we just become a disorganized, anarchic, rabble running around in disarray and confusion, crying for representation and more whisky?  Why do things have to be perfect!?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, we tried that. There were almost scortch marks at row 8 LOL. Things don't have to be perfect, of course. But we can definitely strive for alcoholic excellence!

I guess I missed all the excitement, but I'm sure it will work out!  I have been busy with my own ongoing issues lately, and have not been as involved or "in the loop" as I might like.  As much as I generally don't care for 'rules',  I recognize that some guidlines and leadership are gonna be required to keep our clan moving in a direction that will enhance our enjoyment of it, solidify our identity, and present a positive image of the clan to others.    I'm happy to be part of McLotofus, and will help out if I can.

Conformist!

Well, Sometimes a contrarian position is useful to the discussion.  I don't know all the details of what's been happening, but I feel that point has passed..  I love our clan and clansmen, and for now intend to adapt to what there is to adapt to.
