So cute!!! All withoiut a pattern too!!! Darling ensemble and wearer as well.

Julie came by last night to pick up her new garb. She tried everything on to glee.

The front.  I pit the trim on the tabs horizontally to break up the line of the trim from the bodice and over skirt.

The back. Trim along the hemline to add more symmetry.

Julie in her new garb. She will be working in a shop bear Excalibur at the MNRF this season. This ensemble also included two chemises, two Bloomies, Farthingale, Under and Overskirt, Side lacing Bodice. There is enough of the wine colored Brocade to amke a pair of sleeves.

The Brocade was heavy that I was unable to cartridge pleat. So I did some knife pleats. Nor did I make the skirt as full due to the heaviness of the Brocade. Yet, it came out nicely.

Here's my daughter's new fairy garb. My wife made the dress free-hand, sans pattern. I made the pattern pieces for the tutu. The wings we already had from a dress-up set, but my wife put new fabric on them, and me Chiane decorated them.

OMG!!  Dustin, your kiddo is flat out adorable!!  I hope she has a great time at faire!

Great dress!  But I couldn't help notice the doll in the background.  Did you dress her, as well?! :D

Just about everything in this picture was made by my wife or me. Four pieces are new, and three will get their first wearing at Bristol this Sunday. The new pieces are the flat cap (made by my wife), the jerkin (sewing by my wife, eyelets and lacing by both of us), the pants (wife), and the shirt (wife). I wore the shirt at TNRF in May. The staff was made by me, as was the pouch under my staff arm, the mug strap, and the belt. The boots and socks are purchased, as was my knife and the pouch next to it.

So, I decided I might as well show my new bodice. My first bodice was amazing because it was my first time ever using a pattern, but after wearing it a few times, I realized how horridly designed it was. HA HA HA! So, I went and searched around for research and designed my own pattern and built this bodice which is so much better than my first one.

I know those aren't the greatest pictures of it. But I spent about two months working on it. It was also one of the few times that I did build a mock-up of. I rarely do mock-ups. (I know, it's not a good habit and I really should change it.) It is three layers of denim. The inner two layers hold 45 pieces of boning, also known as heavy duty cable ties from Home Depot. (They work surprisingly well. I'm really impressed.) Once the boning was in place, I hand sewed the rest (about half of it) including the blue bias tape I used around the edges and sewing the outer layer with the inner two layers and sewing the boning channels closed. I also used brass tarp grommets from Home Depot. I have worn it a few times now since I finished it in May. And I absolutely love how it looks with my garb.

Now, to start up the beginnings of a pirate outfit with the amazing stuff I pulled out of the remnants bin at Joann's today. He he he!

Wonderful outfits everyone!!!  Looking at the work everyone is doing these days is making me feel lazy.... I've not been sewing much lately.  But I don't have a ton of projects lying around or anything, so no biggie...
