I haven't popped onto this page for some time and what a treat it was to see all the beautiful work being done!  Amazing!

Y'know what's funny, I found some tan buckskin looking fabric about 2 months ago (it just sort of jumped out at me!) and I had planned to make the Chaucer Coat.  I love that one!
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

That's too weird, MG!!

http://www.simplicity.com/p-2235-costumes.aspx

This is the pattern that I used. I tweaked the back to make it one piece, rather than two. Shortened it a bit to hit mid calf, rather than the floor. I tweaked the sleeve to make it split and flared it out to more of a bell shape. The slitted openings in the front and back are to the waist. Rather than the coat being fitting a the waist, I made the seam line more straight down. The coat basically hangs on the body and remains open in the front, rather than buttoned.

I underlined the Ultra Suede in a sturdy, Quilter's Broadcloth to give the suede body and to keep it from stretching out of shape after repeated wearings. The faux fur resembles Goat or Persian Lamb wool. I gathered that was what used for the coat for the film and Deerskin for the coat body. All the seams are topstitched down using a 1/4" pressure foot. The only difference is that the collar is a modern looking one from that of the film. Which is okay.

Hope I inspired you to make this MG!!

My renlets at TRF last weekend.  I made the wings last year, but she outgrew her fairy dress so I had to make her a new one.  Both sets of garb have four inch deep hems so I can let them down for next year.  Megan's garb is made entirely out of scraps, Connor's garb is made from stash fabric and lined with part of an old garb skirt that somehow shrank during ten years in storage, his buttons are from an old doublet of my husband's that never fit right, and both their shirts are made from an old chemise of mine.  Cost: $0.  Ta-Da!

Your young prince is a handsome chap as well.

And FREE garb!  How good is that?  Lots of win, I think.

Dona!!  Gorgeous gown!!  You sure do have a bevy of beautiful gowns to choose from!! I want to amke me a new one when I get some "down" time.

The Chaucer Coat is finished. It took a while to whip stitch the faux fur on the inside of the coat. Good thing I bought 1 1/2 yards. Not Much left. The flash did not go off for the last two photos. The Ultra Suede is a Buckskin shade of Tan.

OMG My coat is so cool looking . Lady Kathleen you are the greatest. Thank you so much I have to say that the price is well below what I see in the pic and I am sure it will look even beter in person.

IT"S DONE!!! I made False Undersleeves to wear for tomorrow night when I hand out treats to the kids and go out afterwards. It will be COLD here in MInnesota! The buttonholes made and the buttons sewed on. Victorian/Goth for those festive ocassions when not wearing Elizabethan.

Then Front with the Poofy sleeves.

With the False Undersleeves added.
