Yeeaaaa, that's steamy all right.  With or without that checklist, that would be steamy.

Is that a remote control cord running from her left wing to her hand?  Did the gears turn or wings flap at any point?  Maybe some lights or something?

I just love how the male Taurus mind can go from lust to logistics in two sentences or less...  ::)  (snerk)  I would think that Victoria's Secret, with all the money they spend on this show, could figure out how to hide that cord better... hell, even I could camouflage it better than that!!!  I'd definitely be interested in seeing what, exactly, it operates, though.  Wonder if there's a video link somewhere...

I looked at larger pictures of the same model in the same outfit, in a Livejournal post. I think it's supposed to be the chain of a pocket watch, not a cord controlling anything, as far as I can tell.

edit: Here is the link to the photo I'm speaking of. http://pics.livejournal.com/donnaricci/pic/000fax7r

Ahhhh... so the wings are actually skeleton watch works, that's pretty cool.  Not sure about the design of the tails/bustle portion of the corset (kinda makes it look like she's wearing a bubble on her butt), or the color mix of the brown/white with the gray checked gloves (maybe brown lace, or even brown leather), or the whole stainless steel/shiny brass mix, but hey... that model is smmmmokin';)  :D

I have to give them props for at least giving a nod to the genre, though, and since it was a sales concept instead of an actual garb creation I'd have to say they did pretty good, and the wing design is fab!!!

Thanks for the link, Selkie!!!

OK, I could really use some help in finding larger watch works and metal parts and such.  I'm wanting to deck out my new shirt in lots of toggles and such, but not sure where to get ther larger ones.  I was thinking of buying a cheap clock at the store and taking it apart.  Has anyone tried this?  DOes anyone have other suggestions?

BTW, I met a group of steampunkers at TRF this past weekend and got a pic.  One of the dudes is actually already on here and posted some pics, but it was awesome to see it all in person!

So I have some new ideas of new items and such to add to our costuming...  But I need to flesh them out a bit and then I'll share and post pics as soon as I get them made.  I doubt they will be ready for Dickens, but maybe Ikkicon!

Unfortunately, the clocks of today are all run by the little plastic motorized insert, and it doesn't have actual gears in it, except for a couple of little plastic ones.  Those larger gears seem rather hard to come by, and the closest thing I can think of is the smallest chain sprockets you can find for a bicycle, although buying those new would cost quite a lot.

Happy hunting!!!

There are some exposed gear clocks here:

and this one looks nice, but is fairly expensive:

Oh, nice!!!  Those are all pretty cool, although a bit expensive for taking apart... still, depending on the size, I could see a couple of them being incorporated whole into SP garb!

My dad works at a plant that makes gears and gear boxes. These gears are the size of rooms though...not much help here, sorry.

Wow... now that would be something to see!!!  I can totally see using that stuff to create a stage for a Steampunk fashion show, though!  Wouldn't that be Steamy?!?

It'd be really cool! If he was allowed to take photos, I'd ask him too...but it's not allowed!

Well thanks for the thoughts anyhow.  Someone said a watch shop might have some, but I don't know of any in the area.  Well if anyone else has any ideas I'd love to hear them!!
