in that film Stardust, are they dressed sorta steampunkish? i thought maybe near the end with Tristan's coat and what not it was. i really want that stuff he has on!
I'm partially Scottish, partially Irish, and there's a small amount of Native American somewhere in there...

Tristran's coat is To.Die.For.  There are definitely steampunk elements, from the zeppelin, to the first mate's goggles, and, yes, indeedy, Tristran's coat.  Heck, even the Captain's cancan corset & delicates are from the sp period.  Basically, any late - 1890's - Victorian clothing is a good jumping off place for gas lamp fantasy, although not strictly SP because of the lack of punk.

It's looking like Wolfman may have very interesting late Victorian costuming.  Although I hadn't planned on it, I will probably see it for wardrobe ideas.

i gotta figure out how to make Tristan's coat... maybe in black or gray...

We're trying to talk to the photographer about doing another shoot later in the summer (after Scarborough is over).  It was a lot of fun, people brought props and costuming to share, and he had five different photo areas set up.

Wonderful, Marga!!!  Those are fabulous... and I'm envious!!!  Wish I could get something like that done for my daughter and myself...

A friend asked if we were having a Steampunk invasion at Scarborough this year?  I won't be able to, being on cast, but is anyone thinking about it for Rendevous?

Just got a note that some people had reacted negatively to the thought of Steampunk at a Renn function.  Not passing ANY kind of judgement and not starting any wars... was just asking.  We had a former cast member at Scarby that used to do HG Wells (has anyone seen my time machine?) at Faire.  If we can have Stormtroopers, Robots in cardboard armor, and Hobbits showing up, don't know why steampunk can't.  not organizing anything, just curious.  I'm sure we'll see some.

Thanks,

Let's not forget Pirates of the Golden Age of Piracy - way out of the ren era, but accepted nonetheless.

Hehe...A friend and I are planning to go to the Four Winds Ren. Fest. in steampunk garb.

Rani Zemirah

I'm not sure if I will wear SP for RenDezvous or not, since we're only going to have two days there, and I've got several new pieces of ren garb to show off...  I'm just dying to get to an actual Steampunk event, though, so if I find something within driving distance at any time during the foreseeable future, then I am soooo there!!!
