I have been doing ALOT of sewing!

stuff for steampunk, togas for toga parties, and just random stuff.

I am DETERMINED this year to make full nobles ensembles for my husband and myself! We may not match (because of the amount of fabric), but dangnubbit, we WILL have nobles garb!

well, Scarby is over (for us at least) so I have till opening TRF to make/mend:

mend both chemises (linen one is torn at gusset seams, silk one lost it's cuff buttons)

mend/make new bloomers

Sherwood garb for hubby (thinking linen/tropic weight brown wool hose/pants, bound at calf with leather thongs, with cream linen shirt and quilted green linen doublet)

more fanciful/faerie stuff for me (inc new wings...my first pair are, pretty much, dead)

and this!

both nice wool- 3 yrds of the pink, 2 of the plaid- thinking a circular skirt with plaid gussets... could wear with my black pirate Moresca, maybe find a blue/turquoise for a top? I know it's LOUD, but... kinda awesome! am i crazy?

Bellevivre, the wools are *lovely,* but they look heavy. Are you sure they'll drape like you want for a Fair skirt?

bellevivre

they're light suiting- good drape... but I'd only wear to late Fall, early Spring faires

Oh geeze.. am I behind... here it is the first of May and I haven't made a thing for myself.  Though I have been very busy with sewing for others.  I actually made 40 pairs of stretch velvet tights in 2 weeks.  They were all ordered!  Didn't think I would ever get those done.

Right now I am working on a prom dress.

When all the paying jobs are done, I have a ivory and gold doublet for hubby, a surcoat with fur for hubby, and.... wow.. that is it for hubby, normally his list is longer than mine.

For myself, I really want to complete all of the gowns that I have started.  My white/pink/grey I need to finish the sleeves, (mainly beading).  My blue, is all beading.  My red, all beading.  My gold needs sleeves and to finish the beading.  I also have a black and white gown that needs to be done before the end of the year for the Renaissance Masqued Black and White Ball.
IF I can get all of that finished,  I have materials for a new pink dres, a new blue dress,  a new purple dress, a new red dress, a new peach dress, a light blue dress, ummmm.. I think that is it.. LOL

Having finished my new Henrician ahead of schedule, I have started to rehabilitate one of His Excellency's old outfits which was based on a portrait of Henry Tudor as Price of Wales. Basically It is a disassemble, repair, add bits, lacing holes and reassemble.

I've been sewing, but unfortunately not anything on my list!! I just completed some shades for my guy friend's gazebo, and I'm altering a skirt for an elf outfit, and a dress for an anime outfit.
I WILL get at least SOME of my list complete this year!!

1 cherry red silk dupion wedding gown
3 bitter chocolate bridesmaid gowns to go with it
1 mother of the bride outfit (to be determined)

3 pairs of trousers to alter for a friend

Kate, I want you to post progress pix in the WIPs thread!! Eighteenth Century is my second love in costuming.  :D

My list has *totally* changed from where I was in January, and that's OK!  I spent yesterday prepping fabric and studying patterns, and today I worked on last-minute details to finish up my ensemble for Fair next weekend. I added a modesty panel to my pink Simplicity corset (should have done that last year), and I've just sewn up a bumroll from that same pattern. Just need to pick up some fiberfill tomorrow, and I'll be ready for GSLRF on Sunday!

I'll also be looking for some Tru-Grid, so I can transfer my Margo Anderson patterns to it. I hope to get some smock pieces cut out by Thursday.

Onward!!

I have to finish my blue Tudor (ish) gown and all the various bits that go with it- opening gate is apon me on friday!

When I'm done with / recovered from that I want to build a victorian outfit for Costume College this year...not sure about steam-punk...might just wait for next year to get my brain really wrapped around it!

Lady Rosalind

To do before May 21 (for Dubuque on May 22!!!)

1. Finish converting the bodice on my black gown to lace at the side backs in addition to hooking in the front (to deal with weight fluctuations). - Just have clean up work to do on this.
2. Add new shoulder loops to black bodice to spice it up.
3. Two new high-necked smocks, to replace the smocks I made 3 years ago. I have pretty blackwork-like embroidered cotton to use for the sleeve cuffs and neck ruff.
4. One more shirt for my ever-growing son.

I may have to bring the sewing machine with me...

Auryn

I am in deep envy of those of you that have been working on any of your projects.
We are almost half way through the year and I havent done a single stitch of anything.
I am supposed ot be moving in July and my goal at the beginning of the year was to go through and utilize at least 1 bin from my fabric stash.
Ya I have done diddly squat.
At least I have been good and haven't added to the stash.

:'(
im gonna go sulk now

Lady R, when you recover from your rush to get finished for Dubuque, would you consider putting up a post about how you made the alterations to the black bodice? I think it sounds like a tremendously useful alteration, and I know I'd love to hear how you went about it all!

And Auryn, I hear you! I mentioned in another post that I'd all but given up on getting anything done the first half of this year... and then we found out we'd be at GSLRF this month and the sewing bug hit me big time. Maybe you need to throw in an extra, *early* fair to get you going!

Auryn

gem,
wish I could but here in south florida faires are all done until the late fall and there is no money in the budget for traveling to any faires. All our pennies have to be saved up for the move.
btw- I love your colored embroidery on the "blackwork" fabric you got your hands on the other day.

I've completely resigned myself to not sewing anything until after the move.
I'm gonna start packing up all the sewing accoutrements next week.

...And *that* will be the point at which you discover you absolutely MUST make something. RIGHT. NOW.  ;D
