Tixi, your outfit is beautiful.  I love the colors!

What pattern did you use for the wool over dress?

Thank you.

I started out with Simplicity 3782, but modified the collar from the pattern pieces (removed it, actually). I sloped the front from the bottom center point to the collar. It came out as more of an Italian-esque V neck doublet. The nice thing is, the lacing can be taken out because there's ultimately a cape clasp to close it at the waist.

Thanks.  I have that pattern.  And today is my second sewing lesson.  Bloomers were the first.    ;D

Lady Kathleen....
I paid $15.00 for it seemed kinda steep, but I have gotten rave reviews from it here, so it should pay itself off huh?
I want to do a doublet in two different fabrics, upper one pattern lower a solid, looks cool as heck, can't wait!!!!

For Halloween, the theme this year is Bonanza. I didn't want to wear a boring prairie dress, so I am making a steampunk saloon girl costume. I finished the bustle skirt a few weeks ago, and today I finished the corset.  I still have to add accessories (and I'll ditch the hot pants for a short satin skirt, which I still have to make).  But I'm really excited with how it turned out!

Gorgeous corset.  Great color!!!

I see a lot of potential for Steam Punk here. Even Saloon Girl.

I found it at Joanns in the home decor department. They have a Signature Series line of taffetas.  This is marked red/black taffeta, but the threads on the ends are almost a neon orange!! lol Once you trim those off, it's absolutely gorgeous.  They also have an olive/black that looks amazing.

Valencia

Thank you all for the compliments, I really appreciate it! This was quite the undertaking, and I'm so relieved it turned out!

Olive/Black?
I think I found a doublet material!!!!

Jacqueline, What pattern did you use? Its VERY beautiful!

Thank you!!  :-[  It's the Truly Victorian 110 http://www.trulyvictorian.com/catalog/110.html pattern. I did 3 mockups in all, but the pattern was super easy to work with. And the next time I do such a light weighted fabric, I think I'll use cotton duck to add more stability to prevent the wrinkling. I also modified the front, adding about 5/8" at the top of the front panels to give a bit more coverage.  I'm so glad it turned out after all the trial and error of making corsets! :)

The "Klingy" Project is complete.  Since it wasn't Ren related I posted it in the Mundane sewing section, but I had fun doing it.  BTW as much as pleather is a pain to work with, it turns out great when done right.  All the girls are wanting to buy their outfits from the theater.  One of halloween, one for clubbing, and one for every day wear.  ;D To each's own.

It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.
