Saw this exchange on the Dickens on The Strand Facebook page last Wednesday, and mentioned it in the TRF sub-Forum:

Quote from: Dickens on The StrandExciting new event coming to Dickens Saturday night!! Can anyone guess what?

Quote from: Kurt KoopmannI hear Steampunk. Not sure how I feel about that just yet.

Quote from: Dickens on The StrandDon't be afraid of Steampunk, Friends! Steampunk is simply a celebration of the arts and sciences of the Victorian era!

Are any TRF folks planning to take part in the DoTS Steampunk Event?

I can't say for certain, but this is most intriguing and definitely a possibility.  Thanks for posting!

LOL  I'm kinda a neighbor... but in a rather large and spread out neighborhood, I guess.  I'd have to be a good deal closer to make it to this event, however.

I would like to share that this coming Spring we here in OK will be having our very own Oklahoma Steampunk Expo, and it would be wonderful to see all of you here!  I'll even have couch and floor space for up to 3-4 guests, as long as you don't mind close quarters and air mattresses!  Nothing like the huge Cons, of course, but it sounds like it's going to be fun, with lots of planning still happening.  Everyone on their fb page has been invited to attend the planning meetings, so I think I'm going to try and make it this month, if I can.

Ummmm........Could be interesting. We were planning "Dickens/Strand" again this year. May have to try a wee bit o' Steampunk.

Seattle's steampunk con (SteamCon?  I can't remember the name of it for sure right  now) is also coming up!  It's in November.  From the website, it looks like it'll be pretty cool.  And sounds like it was pretty cool last year as well.

Don't think I'll be able to make it, though. :(  We're supposed to be moving right around then, so, sadly, doesn't look like there'll be time to fit the con in.

I'm doing my darnedest to make it to SteamCon next month (11/19-21, I believe).  The motto on last year's t-shirt was:  Steampunk needs historical accuracy like an airship needs a goldfish. Which philosophy is why I love SP.

In addition to the Studio Foglio team, James P. Blaylock is the Writer GoH & I'd like him to sign a book or two for me.

Anyone else going to SteamCon next month?

Because every mad scientist needs a ... pretty apron?:

The test tubes are a Martha Stewart kit, complete with corks and specimen labels.  I intend to fill mine with, among other things, Cthulhu eggs (black tapioca pearls).  Oh, and a little nip!
