I called it a Tudor sleeve but it probably does have a more proper name.

Pretty fabric. That would indeed make a gorgous forepart for the front of the skirt as well. :)

Julia, you say it's a bit small and you'll need to add lacing to the back for a better closure? Can you find a bit of the same or very close green fabric to make what's called a modesty panel? It will allow you to lace loosly and not see your undergarments.

I don't have enough to make the front of the skirt but it would look pretty.  Now that I am working on the dress I really wish I had not bought pattern fabric.  That makes things so complicated trying to think about how the pattern is going to lay.
I can't find any fabric that matches the green on the dress.  I have not figured out yet what I am going to do behind the lacing at the back.  Maybe I can just pin or sew a piece that matches the sleeves back their.

I wish you lived nearby. I'd pull out my stash and find something that would work for you.

If you haven't cut into the fabric you might be able to exchange it for something easier to work with. Maybe just a simple unpatterned cotton for now in a darker green or rust or gold to pick up the colors of the trim? Working with patterns, especially large patterns can be hard.

With Christmas but 36 days away, I am working on in between Alterations, shirts and other things I have cut out for presents. I just finished a shirt in 3X for my Brother. One cut out for my son and the husband of my apprentice. I made him a  shirt last year and he LOVES it!

I like to make my presents. That gives me reason to weed out my stash.

I have nightmares where my local Joanns is just full of fleece in like every color but they have nothing else...sometimes its things other than fleece...like really ugly quilters fabric...and I have a huge project due the next day so I'm stuck using whatever horrible crap I can find...in one of these dreams I made a noble gown entirely of fleece...it was horrendous...

I wish i had happy fabric dreams...

Unfortunately, that's not a dream! Until we got our new JoAnn about 5 years ago, that was our reality! Fleece, fleece, and nothing but fleece. Well, and a whole bunch of craft supplies, home dec stuff (plants, pictures), and a fairly decent quilting department. But nothing at all for garment sewing. I was so thrilled when my local JoAnn opened; they have a great selection of garment and home dec fabrics, and the other store actually stepped up its stock, too.

Not sure if this should go on the mundane or here, but anyway, this is what is currently taking up my time. Though I have to say this is
the most onveluted set of stuff I have ever made before.

Currently my sewing room looks like a blonde poodle exploded with all the fur I have had to cut for the two wolf suits I have had to make.
Add in the newspaper, glue,  plastic canvas, and soda pop bottle bits from making the alligator head,  and then add in the yards and yards of country blue satin with glitter on it that is being made into the matching gown that two girls will be wear, one of which over the aformentioned wolf suit, and the nice nice floral patterned dress that had 5 yards of circle skirt which will go over and VERY poof 1950's petty coat. (bought not made)

It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Lady Rebecca

Wow. LadyStitch, what show is that for?

LadyStitch

"Oh Brother Werewolf Art Thou"  Basically take Sam Spade, drop him in New Orleons, add George Clooney's character from On Brother where art thou, and then a family cursed with the were wolf curse,  where all of them are named after characters from Gone with the wind, Oh and the leading lady is a drag queen. Oh I forgot the evil local politician that is trying to scare off the werewolf family by letting loose a "swamp wolf"  to scare them off their land. Confused yet?? ;D
Seriously I have to make a cheap looking paper mache Gator head, with cheap looking fur suit for the swamp wolf.
Then a full fur suit in blonde for a the female werewolf.
Then a black/ grey arms, legs, feet, and hands for the male were wolf.
Then long gloves/hands , and legs for the girl who starts to transform on stage.
Since the female werewolf, and Scarlet have to match I have to make identical dresses.
Then Scarlet needs a day dress.
Oh and I forgot the special hats I have to make as well.
Thankfully a good friend who is a drag costumeing specialist is handling the drag queen's outfits.

Like I said, so far this is the oddest array of things I have had to make so far to date.  I mean this even puts my star trek spoof to shame.  ;)

I want to work with you LadyStich. The project sounds like fun.

Ah...  A normal day at the office, then.   :P

LadyStitch

Seems to be on par with how my shows have been going this year.  Though it was funny when my mom called and wanted to know if I could use these vintage square dance costume patterns.  LOL The petticoat patterns for it are worth it. :)

I have to say  I rarely have a boring day at the theater I work for.

My Dickens garb is coming along. My skirt is finished, minus the hem, blouse is done, and mockup/lining for the jacket is in the works. I have also completed my mom's skirt, minus hems and hooks and eyes. The two bonnets are mostly decorated, though my dad's jacket hasn't even been started. Here are some pictures of mine, for now.

I love how plaid fabric looks when it's cartridge pleated!

I'm happy to report that the full brown fur suit is done for the swamp wolf and the blonde fur suit is done for the female werewolf.  I hope to have the werewolf arms and legs done tonight.  The day dress for scarlet is half cut out. (The dress had a very difficult layout to it, and it's marked "easy" ? ::) )
Hey that's not a bad dent when I look at it.  ;D
