It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Beautiful work everyone! I love looking at all the pictures as it gives me inspiration to try and make a noble gown for myself.

The jacket for the Dickens faire is coming along! All it needs now are sleeves and binding at the hem (plus embellishments)

Lady Rebecca

The pre-Raphaelite chemise, about as far as I can go with it until my trim gets here from Pillaged Village.

Lady Rebecca

Here's another update on my pre-Raphaelite project.

Over-chemise, minus the sleeves

With the bodice on top (which is still lacking trim, binding, and eyelets up the back. Also, my fitting system hasn't arrived yet, so it looks wonky on the dress form, which is shorter-waisted than I am.

And here is a mockup of my sleeve for the over chemise. I think I like it, but I'm not positive. I'll be cutting the linen when I come home from work tomorrow evening, so if anyone has any opinions on them, please share!

This is what I'm trying to make the sleeve look like:

Valencia

Oh, wow, Lady Rebecca!! I LOVE it!!!

Lady Rebecca

I finished the sleeves on the over-chemise, one sleeve on the blue chemise, and all of the trim except under the bust on the blue chemise. Here's some pics!

It looks wonky because I'm holding it closed. The eyelets will be my next step after the other sleeve.

Detail of the sleeve closure. Got to love Pillaged Village!

Oh, Rebecca--you have OUTDONE yourself!!  Everything is glorious, but I love just the blue layer all on its own. The fit is *gorgeous* (did the dress form help??), and that trim/buttons! Oh, my!!

Thanks! The dress form definitely helped to see it come together, though not necessarily for the fit. But I've decided that I pretty much love the lacing ring method. It was hard to figure out where to put them, and to line them up evenly, but then I basically made piping by whipstitching the linen fabric around really narrow cording, and then I attached the rings to that. It creates such a lovely fullness in the back, too.

I can't wait to put the eyelets in the bodice! I've never made an unboned bodice before, so I really hope it works on me.

LOVE IT
you have been so productive I am envious.

I love the combination of buttons and trim on that sleeve. Together they really pop.
