Vao is a medieval tower in a village in Väike-Maarja Parish, Lääne-Viru County, in northeastern Estonia.

The fortified tower was built sometime in the 14th century by the de Vao family. Now it serves as a museum.

Château de Froensbourg is a ruined French castle north west of the town of Lembach.

The castle was indirectly mentioned in 1235 (according to A. Thon). It is attested in 1269, in an account of the brothers "of Frundsperg". Until the 1340s, the castle would have belonged exclusively to the Froensbourgs, who had the same armorial bearings as the Fleckensteins (of which family they were probably a branch).

The Château de Guirbaden is a ruined castle in the Bas-Rhin département of France.

Dating from the 11th century, over more than 500 years it suffered several attacks, destructions and reconstructions.

Burg Teck is a medieval fortress in Germany.

The earliest mention of the castle Teck can be found in a treaty of 1152 between the Emperor Barbarossa and Duke Conrad of Zähringen. Google earth has some 360 degree photos taken inside the castle.

Schloss Leonberg is a medieval castle in Leonberg, Germany.

Schloss Leonberg was founded in 1248 by count Ulrich I of Württemberg. The original castle was modified between 1560 and 1565 by the master builder Aberlin Tretsch by order of the duke Christoph.

Balcomie Castle is a mixed date castle on the eastern coast of Scotland.

Sibbald states that from Malcolm IV (1153-65) to James II (1437-60) the castle belonged to the Hays, then the Leslies and latterly the Learmonths. The ghost in Balcomie Castle is reputed to be of a young man who was starved to death in the castle dungeon - because he would not stop whistling!

Reszel Castle is a medieval castle in the town of Reszel, Poland.

Dysert O'Dea Castle is an Irish fortified tower house, described as a castle, at Dysert O'Dea, Ireland.

Carrigadrohid Castle is situated on a rock outcrop in the River Lee, approximately five miles east of the town of Macroom in Co. Cork, Ireland.

Its erection is attributed to one of the M'Carthy family; but this is disputed, and some affirm that it was built by the O'Learys. The earliest indiputable records date to about 1573.

Yehi'am Fortress is a castle in Israel.

The caste is of unknown provenence, but some archeological evidence indicates that it was built in the 12th century during the crusades, and may have been in the possesion of the Teutonic Order. In the 18th century the structure underwent an extensive renovation.

Castello di Chatel Argent is a ruined castle above Villeneuve, Aosta Valley, Italy.

Castello Dentice di Frasso is near the senter of the town of San Vito dei Normanni, Italy.

The putative builder of the castle was the Norman Bohemond during his struggle with his brother Roger over control of Puglia and Cantabria, hence the name of the village "of the Normans". Bohemond died in 1111.

Bauska Castle is a complex consisting of the ruins of an earlier castle and a later palace on the outskirts of the Latvian city of Bauska.

The first stone buildings were established between 1443 and 1456 by the Livonian branch of the Teutonic Knights. Every July an international festival of medieval music is held here.

Burg Fürsteneck is a castle, situated in central Germany.

Burg Fürsteneck belonged to the monastery of Fulda. It was first mentioned in 1309, but it might have been built one or two hundred years before. According to GHI, at least one man haunts the castle.

Dobele Castle is a castle in the town of Dobele, Latvia on the west bank of the river.

Dobele was built in 1335 by the Livonian order, possibly on top of a more ancient castle.
