Does anyone know if it is true that in Latin or an other foriegn toungue, Dio means GOD?

For those who do not know, Dio or Ronnie James Dio is a small elflike lead singer with an incredibaly powerful voice. He started off in the band Elf (How fitting since he himself is about the size of one), Then on to Richie Blackmores Rainbow, then to Black abbath, then onto Dio. He does Heavy metal and has some awesome stage shows. He is the one who started the sign of Metal (Devil Horns) which was actually done by his grandmother from Italy to ward off evil spirits. Many say Dio is a Devil Warshipper, but I can tell you he is a devoit Catholic with Crosses all over his house.
