LadeyA, simple designs + stunning fabric = Hard to go wrong.

What is the cloak lined with?

Adriana Rose

Love it!

You look like a maiden from an old tale!

LadyeA

Thanks!  That's my model in the pics.  It is lined with a red poly taffeta.

I want that fabric!  And it does look very lovely on your model.

Lady Rebecca

Wow, beautiful cloak!

I have done so little sewing for the past couple weeks, but I finally finished sewing the buttons on the spats for my Jane costume today. They are cotton canvas, with cotton twill tape for the straps underneath the foot, and they button up the side.

operafantomet

OMG, they are like the cutest things ever! I could totally wear those with my everyday outfits.

LadyeA

spats are great!  Syrilla- I hae uncut yardage of the same in gold on burgundy and gold on emerald green:)  tempting, no?

oh I should have clarified, it's for sale...they make it to my requests so that's why I was thinking of getting some in black.  I don't keep the stuff I make, my own garb wardrobe is rather humble ;)

Huzzah!  The curved-front/corded-bodice dress made its debut today! It's been a little chilly here lately, so I also made some wool sleeves.

I'm really happy with how it looks; I felt very authentic strolling the lanes at Fair today!

There are a couple of issues; the first being that it's too large (nb: it is NEVER a good idea to make a bodice even a teensy bit roomier than you need, and I know better. Sigh. ::)). I also still need guards on the skirt (haven't been able to get more black twill tape yet), and I made the back neckline far too low, so the straps slip off my shoulders. I'm planning to add back a crescent of fabric in the back, to raise up the neckline a few inches. I think it will look OK, if deviating a bit from portraiture.

All in all, I think it's going to be a wildly practical addition to my garb closet. Yay!

Gem the sleeves turns out great. =) I can't tell did you end up just pinning them on?

gem

They're pinned on at the moment (well, not at *this* moment, but earlier today when I had them on. Whatever.), but I'm going to put points on them because it was hard for Milord to manage the pinning to his satisfaction. I was only planning on one set of points, just at the shoulder point, but I think I'll also add some at the back, because I wasn't totally in love with the way the back curve of the sleeve flapped around.

Lady Rebecca

It looks great! I love the look of the yellow sleeves contrasting with the dress. :)
