It's been a while since I posted on this thread, I haven't been idle, just lackidaisical about pictures :/

Ruffle-butt bloomers! I love these!

My husbands Ren pants (He *refuses* to wear slash-and-poofs or leggings...for now >:)

My replica of the Lady Marion (Robin Hood 2010) dining hall dress. It is the most *luscious* violet blue you've ever seen, I *love* this dress and get to wear it for the first time this weekend *squee!* (I also made an apron and caul to wear with it)

Sir Richard, you and Lady Renee look *awesome!!* Do one of you sew them or do you buy your garb?

Renee answering here.  Richard makes his own garb.  He is fantastic.  I buy most of my garb.  Lady Kathleen of Olmsted made my pirate bloomers.  The rest of my outfit I bought.  Richard is teaching me how to sew.  I've made a couple of 1 piece long (Ren) dresses, and a chemise, and a jerkin and pants for my husband, Steve.  But what Richard turns out is amazing.

Here is the chemise and then the overdress that another friend of mine made:

One of the dresses.  I made it with open sides and grommets (which I didn't put in myself) so that I could lend it to different size friends who we took to faire.

What a great Idea! I had a friend this past weekend whom was unable to wear her leather bodice because her shoulders were bothering her (from a car accident a few months ago) and I *wished* I had something less restrictive to lend her (she's quite a bit larger than me), and have been pondering ever since how to make multi-sizable garb for just such an occasion. Thanks!

Lady R, love seeing the garb you've been making!

Wicked, in those situations I've found that's really where having pretty chemises or undergowns like Lady R's gold damask one, plus extra things like waist cinchers, etc (or even men's pieces like pirate coats or whatnot), can really come in handy. Plus making skirts with elastic waists and drawstrings so they can fit a variety of sizes. This is an extreme example, but I had a friend visit a few years ago who was 7 mos pregnant at the time, so of course none of her own garb fit. I brought her my box of loaner garb, and she put together a great ensemble from one of my skirts, a short gauze chemise, and an odd velvet belt from a store-bought costume:

Maybe not her dream Renfair ensemble, but at least she still felt part of the fun, and got to hang out in garb with her older boy, too.  Had it not been pushing 90 degrees that day, we could have tarted her up even further with a variety of hats or various scarfy-wrappy-shawl things.

Lady R, I'm tickled to death to see you sewing. The new garb looks great and that gold set really looks good on you.

Thanks to everyone's kind words.  I am a sewing newbie, but Richard has been really great in helping me.

Here is a side version of the blue dress, so you can see the opening.  I've lent it out a couple of times to close friends, and it really does look nice on everyone.
