;D  I am hot, the sun is in my eyes, my Hood is askew but I am happy, This past weekend at Northern Ren Faire in Cali.  This is a late 1580's complete with french hood in shot silk.

It looks very nice.  :) Eventually we will get a full length photo?

Oh, Cilean, you look DARLING! What a wonderful ensemble. Did you do the jacket embroidery on your machine, or did the fabric come that way?

And I'm with Dona C--we need more pictures of this whole look--full-length, closeups, etc. :D

Beautiful, Cliean!!!

I just popped by to share a photo of my finished (ish) new gown. The new forepart was a bit too long, so it ended up being swapped with the old one. I also want to redo my hat, and make it larger. I felt like my head was naked all day, lol!

A huge thanks to Rowan for taking this pic!

There are still some things that need adjusting, the shoulder straps are a bit too long, but overall, I'm fairly happy with it!  ;D

Very lovely Rosalind!   :D  For a hat, I think an Elizabethan tall hat would look fabulous.

Thanks, Isabella! I actually have three tall hats, and was wanting to branch out a bit. I am going to just have to make a red one, too!

Coughahemcough... My head is pretty small...  ;D

That turned out smashingly!! In your WIP shots, we got to ooh and aah over your trim--but in the full view we can really see the red fabric's gorgeous sheen. Congratulations on getting it done in time to debut this year! (Any chance we might see it at Rendezvous next month?!)

There have been talks about heading down on the 12th... Not sure if I will make it or not.  :(

The old forepart goes quite well with it too. The dress turned out lovely.
Now I'm wondering if the old dress would work with the new forepart as well?

You are most welcome ^_^.  I love how this dress turned out.  The garnet silk has that beautiful sheen, now I wish I had asked you to stand in the sun.

I measured my new forepart off the old one, it turned out OK.   I have hubby to help with the pinning.

Yes, yes, yes!! We definitely want to see! I am making Milord another shirt from S4059, and when I pulled out the pattern, I thought of your whole gallery of beautiful doublets. :)

So... I made something. I'm referring to it as the 5k because I decided to get with the program and sew it on friday- I marathoned it from probably 3pm Saturday to 4am Sunday, finishing the eyelets in the car on the way to faire because my hands were too sore from rushing to handle a needle (sliced my fingers on my scissors and kept catching my hands on needles. PLUS i'd cut my hand getting to my stash in the closet at my parent's house.

I had to redraft the pattern (butterick 6196 I think) my aunt made this pattern for me originally in 8th grade so I had a completely unboned version lying around that I took apart and used as a rough guide since I liked the length of it and thought it would fit well. Used the reddawn guide for drafting out the princess seams which freaked me out the whole time... The boning placement I based on Gem's bodice here: http://www.renaissancefestival.com/forums/index.php/topic,19649.0.html (thanks for posting that!) I had some boning lying around from an unfinished corset I got at a yard sale- the person must have had a similar torso length to me... I haven't finished if I want to finish the corset of the unknown seamstress or not...

It's a layer of thick canvas, a layer of thin cotton, and the corduroy esque fabric on top. I need to go back and make a proper skirt and chemise still (I normally use the mundane top pictured but the elastic wore out of the elbows finally) that sits at the bottom of the bodice. I'll get ya'll a picture of the back tonight.
I need to go back and try to straighten some of the trim, resew one of the boning channels, and fix one of the side seams that didn't get taken in the same amount as the other side during fitting so it's off center.

Stuff I messed up? Cut two of the fashion panels wrong so the "wrong" lining shows, it doesn't matter, but It's not what I wanted. I need to retack some of the binding and restrain two of the bones that I didn't get caged properly. I also need to make the eyelets prettier- I just ran short of time so got them in as best I could. They're functional, but in no way are they finished. I also still need to adjust the straps I think... Not entirely sure what, I just know something is loose- I think fixing the side seam and shortening the strap a tiny bit will fix it.
