Well from I have been seeing on the internet mainly yahoo news headlines Gustav looks to be well on it's way to a Cat 5 storm so if it were me I would start worrying.

The Navy Hurricane Lab is predicting a Category 4 or 5 storm will make landfall at Grand Isle, Louisiana.
There has been a mandatory evacuation order issued for New Orleans. With the shipping channel from Grand Isle and the lack of progress on the levees, they are predicting a lot of flooding for the area.

I hope everyone in the area finds a safe place to go.

I'll tell you what gets me the most is the fact that I have some friends who are cast of LARF and from what I know that faire is supposed to start either this month or October so I am hoping that Gustav won't end up hitting Hammond cause if it does then they are in trouble out that way.

Thanks, things are gray, wet, but quiet at the moment.  Here's what NOAA has to show for our little TS  Hurricane.  (not so little when your island is only 7 miles long and a mile wide)  The little blue   RED horseshoe of islands are the Turks & Caicos Islands.  The tiny blue  RED dot  just to the right of the horseshoe is Grand Turk.  Florida is definitely in this one's path as well.

Rains are getting heavier and winds are beginning to pick up.  Luckily it looks like the storm is going slightly north of us so we'll be lucky to have no more than 45 mph winds and lots of much needed rain.  Presently, Tropical Storm Hanna is just 170 miles north of our island with her winds reaching out as far as 200 miles.  If she turns southwest, tomorrow will be a little rougher than today.  She's currently moving at 12 mph.

I wonder if this means the ship is cancelled on Wednesday?

Now from what I just read on Yahoo headline news Gustav has now weakened down to a Cat.3 storm with 115 mph winds but forecasters are saying that it could still pick up speed.

Hang in there, Sandwench! And keep in touch.

I hope everyone in Gustav's path is spared. I am concerned as I have family in the French Quarter.

And if Hannah heads for Savannah...well, I have family there too.

The faire itself doesn't start till Nov 1, Hopefully the locals are safe.

For those who are interested... see the tiny red dot labeled Cockburn Town?  That's exactly where I live.  I'm still online.  Power is still up but our water system isn't working.  You'd think that wouldn't be a problem with all the rain...

Winds have increased.  I've had to shut the hurricane shutters.  My flashlight is ready as well as my battery powered radio.

Oh, good luck!  I've been keeping up with the news about Gustav here in Texas.  I hope you (and everyone else) come through all right.  *lends support*

Keep safe there, festmum!  Sounds like you've done everything you can, now that storm just has to get past you.
