Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Thanks Kate.

Like with the other Captain Teague Coat I did earlier this year, this one was just a tad different. Took just as long, about 28 yards of Gold 1/8" cording, Dupioni Silk for the leaves, and HOURS of handsewing. Which is what makes the Coat unique.

Very lovely. Can't wait to see the other corset and cloak.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Oh man
I missed living vicariously through your guys.
I just went through the last 20 pages and I don't know which project is more fantastic than the next.

You have all inspired me to get sewing again.

Beautiful work everyone

Huzzah! I finished the reversible doublet for my FIL, and Side 1 (noble) made its debut today. Alas, our camera battery died, so instead of the posed photos I had intended to take, these were grabbed from whatever my MIL happened to catch on her camera. Still, I think he looks pretty great!

We are all agreed that he needs a new shirt (I knew this, but did not realize his single shirt was collarless!); MIL is plotting to make him a black one with a ruffled collar. He actually tried this on last night over his mundanes, and I was totally convinced it was way too short (and kind of baffled, 'cuz we did a fitting), and I lay awake trying to figure out how I was going to make the skirting longer, when I am totally out of the fabric for the reverse side. And then... the magic of proper underpinnings and a BELT! It was actually perfect. :D

I'm hoping we get some shots later tonight of the other side, once we have him in a proper shirt.

Wickedvox

Huzzah!! It looks *great!* And most importantly, he looks *comfortable* in it, like it's exactly what he wanted. Another great piece Gem!

The test kirtle I made for a friend, in action. She has sleeves but left them off so she would not implode. Linen/rayon blend with a soft bodice.

After a long day at faire.

Since I could not pop up in person to the NY renn faire she printed me out.  :D

The very nice eyelet I taught/coached her on making.

Wickedvox

Nice Centuries, especially the paper "you!"

iain robb

Just finished sewing each of the cartridge pleats to the bodice of what I've been calling Julie's Elizabethan gown, which I have now decided to call the Prancing Unicorn Gown, for reasons that will be clear in a moment. Here's a front view:

(The unsharpened costume sword was the only thing I could find to hold it up until my wife comes back from visiting relatives in a couple of weeks.)

And an oblique back view:

And the reason I'm calling it the Prancing Unicorn Gown, some vintage buttons I found that seemed ideal for the back closure:

Still have to hem it when my wife gets back, but I'm counting it as finished. Boy, that was a lot of velvet ... I'm going to be picking little blue lintballs off of clothes and couch and chairs for months.  :)

Wickedvox

Veeeery pretty iain! I love that blue--and the buttons! How fun! I think it looks lovely, what a lucky woman.

And yeah, *that's* why I hate to sew velvet.

Some samples for LARP from our workshop...

Su made the chasuble and the robe under it, I made the cote hardie and the doublets.  All the patterns were drafted by us.

More to come tomorrow!

Wickedvox

Wow. Just wow. Those are so well made! And that purple dress...love it! It's *kind* of similar to my indigo Lady Marion gown.

I really like the design and lines of the two doublets Kate.  Great work!

Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Excellent work everyone!!!!!

So glad to see so much sewing!!!!

I am itching to get some "work" done, but have lots of Alterations to do. That is work as well.

Oh, Kate... those doublets are knockouts!  I must admit I like the fleur de lis design a bit more, but both are just lovely - looks like they're excellently tailored, and not too fussy.

I have a definate soft spot for middles...  ;D
