Looks like it turned out quite good. I can see from the one photo that it is thicker than the foam I used. My Mom gave me the timtex, I don't know where she got it from. Does it always come in that thickness or does it vary? The foam comes both thinner and thicker than the 3mm I bought.

Oh, wonderful!  Gotta love the kids in garb!

Thanks Kate!
It was fun to make. I am now working on another version, in burgundy.  :)

It USED to come only like that, but has been revamped recently...  Lemmee see...  OK, the whole story of Timtex and Fast2Fuse!

Get it from quilting stores.  Yes, it IS expensive.  But it works beautifully, and, for me making things for customers, £7.50 a meter is a lot cheaper than the time it would take me to build a hat out of lesser materials.  It'll stand rain, washings, and  other miss-treatment, so is better than buckram for hats that will get wet.  For hats I use the Timtex, without the fusible stuff, and sew.  It gives a better finish.  For fabric bowls made with quilting cottons, the fast2fuse is excellent.

That outfit is absolutely adorable Lady L! I've been putting off making new garb for my daughter, but after seeing that I've decided to start on hers this week. Thanks for the inspiration!

Interesting background on the timtex, ty Kate.  :) My Mom has made those fabric bowls, but I never tried it. That is a bit more expensive than the foam sheets I used.

Huzzah Lorraine! Thank you so much for the nice compliment.  ;D

Here's a pic of the burgundy velveteen french hood I just finished. It turned out a bit better than the first one, I think. The goffering is more even.
I had a dream last night, that I was selling hats in my shop at MNRF! LOL! Maybe I should make one for myself.

The French Hood turned out lovely Lady L!!!

Pictures forthcoming of the Victorian Bell Topper I made for the step-father of my Apprentice that will be worn at CONVergence this weekend at the Shearaton in Bloomington. I must make one for myself for that STEAMPUNK look in Black Velveteen!!

Oi! Wot she sez!!  ;D

So many people discount the effect a hat has on an ensemble.

Not only can good headgear really MAKE an outfit, with the right hat, and some well chose accessories, you can really highlight your character's personality and make yourself stand out.

Gown finally complete!  I started in March, and took a month long break for my wedding.  The smock needs some adjustments, but, outside of that, some jewelry should finish it off.
