I think my vest matches your corset splendidly, El.  That's all I was going to say.  Jeesh.  Ask Rani, she's seen a pic of it.
I hope my life is an epic tale that ends well and everyone likes to read. --Grovdin Dokk

If anyone comes across some Victorian type shoes that are flats (without heels) let me know.

Being Blond means I have the right to walk into any wall.

I have seen it, and I do agree... with the jesting, teasing, matching and adoring!  In fact, I think we're all going to compliment each other amazingly well!!!

Nearly all of the fashion outlets have had new styles this year that could pass for Steampunk.  Lots of buckles, wedges, laces, etc.

www.JessicaLondon.com.  Chadwicks.com  Roamans.com, LaneBryant.com.   These companies are great - they will let you return shoes by mail.  Also there are the Brandname shoe stores in the area, though I have a harder time finding my size, in COMFORTABLE shoes there.

I bought these boots from Kohl's maybe three weeks ago:  http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/shoes/juniors/boots/PRD~506807/Candies+Deidra+Tall+Boots.jsp

These win in the steampunk accessories division, what with all the straps & buckles and would be perfect if they also came in black.  As a fluffy woman, I appreciated that the top was in two parts - front & back - and could go around my stumpy legs, which rarely, if ever, happens.

OK, I have been keeping and eye on this thread for awhile now and it has got my curiosity up. How and where do you start with Steampunk? I just I'm alittle over whelmed with all the doodads and some of the clothing, can anyone send a lost soul down the right track? Thanks

OMFureakin"G!!!  I am now the proud owner of this little piece of luscious!!!  Not exactly S/P/, but it will be making it's debut at TRF, even if I have to wear it at night in the campground...  ROFL

Just won it for $49.94 on Ebay, and that includes the shipping and insurance, so the winning bid was $32.99!!!  It's even short enough for lil' ol' me, so it won't drag the ground when I walk, but it will come awfully close...

It will be delivered between the 14th and 17th, so I'll be modeling it in just a very few days!!!

I just found this thread as well.  I got interested in Steampunk when I first played Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura.  Great game if you can find it.

I can see me working on something this winter.... hum...

OMG, Rani - that is gorgeous & you couldn't make it for that.  Congrats!

Welcome to the la-bor-a-t'ry, Lady Serena & Cleric - bwahahahaaa!  I'll keep an eye out for the game - thanks for the tip.  As to where to get started, the base is Victorian, fasihion and technology that could be from that period.  A lot of good web sites have been provided and they're as good a jumping off place as any.

*nods* I agree, you can find many useful links on steampunk in this thread. I can't exactly remember when I found out about steampunk (been within the last few years) and this was, I believe, the first steampunk website I came across: http://etheremporium.pbworks.com/Wiki It condenses a lot of steampunk links into one area. Happy searching!

Now, I had a question for the ones attending the Steampunk Invasion at TRF. Is anyone planning on bringing modified plastic guns as a prop? I'm back and forth on whether I want to do so.
