I couldn't find the Geographical section, either.  Rani, I live for faire - gives me a chance to dress up (my favorite holiday has always been Halloween).

Got up last night and sewed & pressed open the seams.   This morning I put the skirt placket in (my first  placket - I feel so schmott!).  Tonight I will take out one seam each on the inverted pleats, reduce the bulk, & re-stitch the seams.  I found a tutorial on Burda for making the cargo pockets, so I will be experimenting.  If I don't get lazy or busy, I can see this being done by the end of the week - YAY!

Since this outfiit is coming along so nicely, I just have to ask myself - & you, gentle readers - do I wear the black Circus of the Darned or the Lady Explorer outfit to fair?  Decisions, decisions.

Hmmm... that's my dilemma, also!  How do I fit all this Steamy goodness I'm accumulating into just one day?!?

Maybe we need a costume change mid-play?!?  Say... after lunch?  I could see wandering out to camp to slip into a different character, maybe...  :P :D  ::)

As for no Steampunk events in your area I feel your pain. There are some up in the Twin Cites proper but in the southern suburbs nothing and since I very, very rarely get into the cities my exposure to other steamers is limited.

Heck I am having a hard time finding a backdrop for pictures that I like.

There is also the rumor that there is going to be a huge World Steam Expo in Dearborn next Memorial Day.  The only thing I've been able to find on it is this myspace page which makes me wary of how real it is.

Sorry to quote myself, but I heard back from the Hyatt where it is supposed to be held and it is a definite event for next year!

If you are looking for Steampunk events check out the brass goggles forum. http://www.brassgoggles.co.ukThey have a section called Geographical, where events ect. are listed.

Hmmm... I couldn't find the Geographical section you mentioned.

Try this: http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/board,13.0.html
Otherwise it's the last topic under General Steampunk

I'm having the same problem! LOL I was only going to wear the steampunk garb on Labor Day at MIRF and stick to the more traditional ren garb for sat. & sun. but now I am thinking that I just might go steampunk all weekend!

Sealion, did I see your pic in the forums over there at brassgoggles, drumming up support for a Labor Day S/P invasion of MIRF, by chance?!?

LOL  Wish I could get up there for it!  I'd Steam with you all weekend!  Seriously, MIRF looks like a wonderful Faire, and I'd love to visit it someday!

Guess you have to actually buy tickets if you plan to win the lottery, though, huh?!?  :-\

Yes, we did. I was wearing a simple purple dress with black trim and missed the group photo with the queen because I was chatting with your wife. LOL

The Mega Million drawing is over $250 million last I heard. But my husband is going to win. ;)

Ah, I remember your dress!  ;) Ya, you both ditched the group shot. Terrible...

Ok as promised pictures of the coat I have. The first one is the back.

The second is it from the front with the kepi hat.

I'll probably change the buttons out to a brassy color, mod the back and maybe add a couple other bits.

We have Powerball here, but someone just won the $258 million last week, and unfortunately it wasn't me...  :P

Who knows, though... perhaps I will just run away and join the circus (Faire), and make my living as a vendor...  Then I can come to your Faire every year!!!  LOL

I've actually got an idea or two for some SteamPunk accessories that might just sell, if I can work out the kinks... and there's talk of a vendors portal here on R/F, so who knows what the future holds, eh?!?  :D
