Hoowil

We had originally decided to hit our season opener in mundanes to keep me from stressing too much about garbing the little ones. Three days before we were leaving, my wife asked what could be refitted from last year for them, and if I would have to do too much.

The shirt is a recycled chemise from my daughter, that got a quick/drastic length change. The jerkin is based loosly on a toddler pirate coat pattern that I had around. Given the short amount of time I had, I even fiddle enough with it to change the cut f the bottom, and put a lining in it. The kilt was 100% recycled fabric, from a previous stitched down great kilt from last year, and scraps from the top of my (put on hold) wagon project. I didn't have enough of the plaid to give it as many pleats as I would have liked, and the overlay in front is short by about 2 inches (for a 19" waist, that's a pretty good chunk), but that was all I had material for. I didn't think to do 2 panels until it was way too late.

Most of this is older. The bodice is a late season project from last year, and my first attempt at a reversable The skirt was adjusted, I lengthened the slit at the waistband opening, and changed it from a button, to a series of different snaps, so she can keep growing into it. The chemise is brand new. In my haste, I goofed my measurements on the sleeve length, and ended up having to add a second cuff to it to extend the sleeves bu about 3 inches. I may go back and add ties further up the sleeves to make it look like an intentionally gathered sleeve. Over all, I got it workable in less that four days, while working, and having the little ones, even having to make a fabric run, so I think it came out good enough.

How cute! You did a good job in a short amount of time, too.

Great work!

Little ones are so much fun to sew for. I am looking forward to making garb for the latest additon to the family. But not this year. She's too little and won;t go to faire until next year.

I wish I had a little one I could sew unnecessarily elaborate things for...

I just finished these outfits for my kids. ( I did not make the pink and white. ) The purple was my first bodice. I am really happy with how it came out, but I will be asking lots of questions on how to make some adjustments before I make one for myself.

Just finished it last night - I'm so happy!

And because I'm a sewing geek, here's a shot of the inside - I added little elastic loops so the hat can be held on with bobby pins.  I'd forgotten I even had them - so glad I found them again when I went looking for a new needle. Serendipitous discoveries are always the best. :)

Thank you, Rebecca, Rani, and Lady L! :)

It was a team effort between me and the seamstress making her gown.  Other Seamstress has an amazing embroidery machine o' DOOOOOM, so she did the embroidery and I put it together.  Oh, how I covet her embroidery machine....
