We've got a blustery rain storm up in DFW right now.
hopefully things will push your way with some precip to spare.

Yeah most of it seem to be gone by the morning time though minus the wind. I'm loving the cool weather this morning though :)

But NOT after Friday noon AND not again until Monday noon. Much as we needed the rain first Sunday, it coulda waited till close.

Well, we may not get to go to faire this weekend, but if the temps really do drop into the 40's, its perfect weather to break out our new cloaks that we bought opening weekend.  Faire or no Faire, I'll be sporting my new Mystic cloak to the office on Wednesday (o:

Right now I'm not gonna complain about any rain.  We need all we can get.  Not just to lift the fire bans, which without rain could potentially stretch out into Sherwood time, but because our roads and foundations are buckling all over this city.  As much as I hate to ruin a faire day, and we were there with you opening sunday, soaked clean through and cold, we need a lot more of it.

Have I mentioned a great cloak maker in Faire - Mystic Cloaks, 100% waterproof and really warm (o:  Will come in very handy at Sherwood if we still are not allowed fires by then.

Just out of curiosity, have there been any fires or smoking in the campgrounds so far, and how has it been handled?

We did not see any fires last weekend.  We were number 16 to get into camp. Dad kept going to the smoke circle all day, but by night fall he was so frustrated by two LEOs that walk within five feet of three lit cigarets that he stopped going to the smoke circle.   People were lighting up all over the place and each one that I spoke to said "I am careful, they are not after me." The only time I ever saw anyone say anything was on Monday around 10:30pm the firemen drove up to our camp to tell a girl visiting us (Orchid) that she should be in the smoke circle. She just told them that she was being careful and would make sure it was out.  They told her to not let the police see her and drove off.  If they would change the fine from 2,000 to 50 and actually enforce it, most would stop.  Those guys do not want to slap anyone with that fine.

There are 2 smokers that were in my group, and several in the group camped next to us, all were discreet, and used the enclosed style ashtrays that fit into a cupholder in the car, and nobody said anything to any of them, to my knowledge. Every single butt went into one of those ashtrays, and a bit of water went in to help ensure cooled & extinguished materials before they emptied them into our trash containers periodically.

I'm gonna complain loud and clear about weekend rain. I cannot afford a mystic cloak... but if someone wants to buy me one I'd appreciate it and not complain about the rain anymore.

I have heard folks talking about those cloaks before, but not sure I have ever been in that shop.  How much do those things normally run?  I have been needing to get a new cloak for for some time now.

I'd like to know what they run as well, since my $110 Moresca Rain Guardian, which I bought Thanksgiving weekend 2007, along with my regular wool guardian, is no longer waterproof, after less than 20 wearings, and zero trips through the washing machine. Would have been nice had they told me when I spent $110 on it that I would eventually need to put scotch guard or another water repellant on it at some point.  By the time I made it from the campground to the shop on opening Sunday I was NOT a happy camper, since I was soaked to the skin!

I think the full length one I was looking at last year was in the neighborhood of $250.

Strange

Mystic is located way back by the entrance to Sherwood, but on rainy days they move some of their stock to Dra's shop at #4, since it's the same ppl.
The regular waterproof cloak was 230 when I checked, tho they apparently give some sort of break to participants. Not sure of those details tho.

Wow that is something you would want to know.  I'm surprised they didn't relay that to you; Moresca has always had such a gret rep for quality and service.

Had no idea that Dra and Mystic were in cahoots...
