Wow that is something you would want to know.  I'm surprised they didn't relay that to you; Moresca has always had such a gret rep for quality and service.

I know, and I was totally shocked myself, as they've been helpful and kind about other things... when my Guardian started coming apart at the seams, I took it with me when I was at Sterling, they were awesome, I dropped it off on Saturday, they had it fixed by the following Saturday when my friend who lives up there went back to pick it up, all at NO CHARGE.

Just today, I emailed them to find out the status of my bodice that I left with them at Scarby to replace a bone and fix a couple of weak spots to keep the boning from popping out there too. They IMMEDIATELY got back with me, told me they had one in my size that had no ID information and needed the repairs mine needs. I sent them photos of mine, it matched up and it will be ready to ship to me next week. They offered to ship with faire stock, either to TRF or Scarby, thus saving me the shipping charge ($12), but since it was somewhere between Scarby and the workshop in NY that the original ID got lost, I think it's better if it's never in TX faire hands... That offer is ALMOST enough to cause me to forgive the rudeness at TRF, but not quite. Meanwhile, this weekend I'll get some waterproofing and spray my cloak with a coat or two.

Lady Dra and Doug have a business partnership wherein they sell each other's stuff and work together, but they are two distinct businesses. Doug sells her stuff at Sherwood and she has some of his cloaks up at TRF near the front where they will sell better during rainy days. I actually stress-tested one of the prototype cloaks, and I could NOT kill that thing :D Shower- no leaks, car wash hose- no leaks, drying it by letting it flap in the 80mph winds behind my truck- no tears. Even Toddlergeddon couldn't kill that thing, though she did manage to break the clasp :)

We have at least one of those cloaks. Very well made.

Are there any updates on the fire ban?  Was just wondering if it has been lifted yet.  We plan to camp the first weekend in November and I wanted to know if I should plan to bring firepit/firewood, etc.

It ain't the years, it's the mileage.

Riot

I very seriously doubt it will be lifted this year, especially for any kind of firepits... now with that said I did see some pictures from this last weekend of them doing very small low shooting fireworks for the closing show.

As far as I've heard the burn ban will remain in effect through November at least. Even though we've had a bit more rain recently it is still extremely dry.

In case you thought that TRF was the one imposing the burn ban;
Grimes County burn ban still in effect.

Last I heard the ban will stay through this season.  The fireworks being done are due to the overwhelming disappointment opening weekend in the laser show by itself.  They are all small in nature and no sparks leave the joust arena sand area.  I can tell you that this last weekend I was having to step on glowing cigarette butts all over the village.  I do not want to think about what will happen to smokers if a fire breaks out in the village.  They are being very loose on the smoking in the village right now but a couple light rain showers do not make up for the drought.  Keep in mind that Lake Conroe is only about 30 minutes from the faire and is currently so low that boats are sitting in dirt in places.  Lake Houston has a field growing in the middle of it by the bridge due to how low it is.  I would not spend money on firewood this season.

Strange

Even with the "civilian" burn ban in place, flames do seem to be popping up a little more each week.
Last night, there was what appeared to be a fire show up by the front entrance.
Not sure if it was juggling or poi, but it did draw a crowd.

I feel they need to rethink the close show.  Lose the lasers and cut the whip down to only the fire whip trick.  Have Dead Bob host and introduce a few performers for a finale show and alow each to colect tips again.  The bells being played as the sun goes down,  Arson playing with fire at twilight and many other acts could take place for 5-10 min. each.  A spot light may be needed but that should not be too hard to come by.

I do hope that more rain will come so that come closing weekend, we can have fires while we camp. If not it will be some kind of cold in camp that weekend. >:( But well just have to see, I have a strange feeling that closing weekend is going to be very cold and very wet!

The official word from TRF is that the current fire policy will remain for the rest of this season.

Taylor Blu, I don't see how a series of short performances under a single spotlight could possibly exceed the current laser/pyro show. It may be different, but it is a reasonable alternative, given the wildfire danger.

We are coming for Halloween weekend, from Arkansas, since we no longer (sniff/quiet sob) live in Texas

So, no firepits, even if covered?   Can I bring my propane cookstove?  As cold as it is going to be this weekend, both would be greatly missed. . . ..

another question, slightly off topic -- it is difficult for me to walk long distances, can one of my fellow campers drive me up to the front gates (or actually, just behind the flushies at the front gate) drop me off and take the car back to the campground?

Thanks!

No firepits at all (there is not even a bonefire this year). You can bring a propane stove to cook on, however that is pretty much the only thing allowed unless it is electric. No open flame heaters, unless it is the style of the Mr. Buddy (which has a tip and oxygen sensor) and they must be propane style. There is no smoking unless you are in one of the two designated smoking areas (one of which is the bonfire circle, the other is located on the right side of camp as you come in) or you located within your car and then all butts must be disposed of properly and not on the ground.. If it is a open flame you can not have it period, no matter what it is.

If you have any questions they have been than welcome to answer any questions you might have (which numerous questions have been posed to them)

i drive myself up to the front gates whenever I'm camping so I don't have to walk too far and if you have a handicap skicker then you get front row parking.
