Maybe just add some beads to the medalion on the front? The fabric is lovely as is...  =)

:)  Amy, you might want to look at this image for inspiration:

My latest project:

sewing room 063 by jubileel_insaneone, on Flickr

The surcote is a bluish grey velvet that I got as an unfinished surcote at a yard sale.  The velvet had been cut and sewn at the shoulders and sides and that was it.   I added the lining, a silver silk that is tucked and smocked to look like a basket weave pattern.   I have enough of it to make a forepart and possibly sleeves to match the lining.   I have just enough of the velvet to add those little ring things that I can't think of the name of right now that go around the top of the arm.

Now that the Captain Teague coat has been safely delivered to Lord Dragon, I am cuting out more Shirts for Elizabeth to work on as well as Lady Kett's bodice to her Venitian Gown.

Now that March has come in like a Lamb, Alterations are pouring in too. No rest for the wicked. I will be working a lot of late nights.

Photos as I progress on Lady Kett's gown.

The Bodice part to Lady Kett's Venetian gown is cut out. There will be 5 layers in all. The Brocade will be underlined, 2 layers of Canvas Duck, then lining. I have one sleeve put together and the other is in process. There will be plenty of boning to provide support.

For the bottom part of the sleeve, I used the Pirate Coat sleeve. I adjusted the pattern just a bit. For the Panes, I drafted an Upper sleeve using a Grocery Bag. Finished width is 2" with 1/2" seams. I will need to make adjustments before I finish the sleeve. There is Single Fold bias tape to finish the top part. There will be large hooks and eyes that will attach the sleeves to the shoulder strap of the bodice.

Thank you Isabella for the surcoat pic.  My sister has a beautiful surcoat with an amazing pleated back that she wears over hers and I just love it.  Maybe I can find something to add to this outfit that doesn't make us too matchy matchy.   That velvet sure is luxurious.   That would look so beautiful over the satin I'm using with the ornate sleeves I have planned.

Oooo Ahhhh over Lady Ketts blue sleeves.  That will be amazing!

I am loving all these Italian dresses!!!  Now I want one.  :)

Ok.. I keep looking back at the blue sleeve for Lady Kett and can't stop loving the brighter blue peeking from inside.  I am absolutely stuck on that little detail!  I simply have to find a way to work that into my current project.  A surprise accent lining.   I'm in love.

Thank you Ladies. I will post photos of the sleeves once I get them embellished.

I have the Bodice all put together, boned, and ready to finish off with bias tape on the inside. Then the tapes for the Ladder lacing that is the main feature of a Venetain gown.

I made adjustments to the panes by shortening them an inch. They look much better and poof just right.

operafantomet

Still working on that Sylvan Glade costume. The draped apron is almost done, just have to work a bit more on those flowers sprinkled on top of it. Then shoulder and back drapes, and a big bow in the back. As a finishing touch, all drapes will get a trim of pleated organza or similar.

The design isn't my own. It's based on Maria Bjørnson's design for a ballet costume in "Phantom of the Opera". The details of the design is amazing. Look at the back of the costume. So delicate, so detailed, so beautiful! (click to enlarge)

Wow.  That is truly lovely.   Would love to be able to wear a confection like that.   Gorgeous work.  So detailed!
