Does the new layout allow for patrons who are not camping to visit the campgrounds before going to their motel?  My girlfriend has health issues that prevent us from camping, but it has been fun in past years visiting with campers before retiring for the night.  It would not be feasible to pay for a weekend camping pass to visit with friends for a couple hours.  Hopefully this is one of the issues you and TRF management have been reviewing.  Thanks for all of your good work.

We (Terre, Tom, and I) have not discussed campgrounds visitors who only come into the campgrounds for a few hours. However, our method at Sherwood is that the driver of the visitor vehicle leave their driver's license at the gate. Upon exit, the license is returned. Of course if exit is the next morning, you may have to pay the camping fee to get the license back. Also, you must also have all the people in the vehicle with a hand stamp obtained exiting the Faire or a Faire ticket for the next day.

Idea is to reduce/eliminate "casual" visitors to the campgrounds.

Sound fare enough?

I've been corrected. Any visitors will have to walk from the Patron's parking lot into the campgrounds. No vehicles.

Mike, does this mean people coming from Patrons parking lot will not require a ticket in hand when they enter the campgrounds on foot?  After closing, people going to Faire would not have their tickets any more.

Polly PoPo, there are no restrictions/checks for folks walking to/from the Patron's campgrounds and the Faire entrance.

This first year experiment is to block vehicle traffic from the Faire parking lot into the Patron's campgrounds.

It's pretty obvious to watch someone hauling an ice chest from the campgrounds to the Faire parking lot (or other camping gear).

This doesn't prevent theft from fellow campers, so the security will be constantly patrolling. Plus campers need to be observant.

Doh!!  I just realized the campground walkabout is the same day as the TRF-Magnolia Stroll.  What a fun day this will be!!

Oops, scratch that.  The stroll is Saturday and the tour is Sunday.  Dang that would have made for a fun filled day if it was all on Saturday.

Just make sure you have your participants tag for your car in a safe place when you camp. You should be fine.

az

cant wait. i hope the particpants camping is as friendly and fun as the patrons

Strange

The patron/participant camping thing has always been a bit odd @ TRF.
In the past, they've actively tried to prevent participants from going out to patron's camping at all, at least from backstage.
I know George doesn't want cast members out there in their civvies, as it "ruins the illusion" of faire, but there is no such prohibition listed anywhere in the participants handbook.
Considering how many participants are members of clans, it seems almost punitive to tell them they can't visit their clan.
Hopefully with the changes to vehicle access we'll be more able to enjoy that social aspect of faire.

I'm now a "maybe" for the walk through.  It all depends on how far along i am with the house move...  :(
