Very nice indeed, Lady Kathleen. I do like the second one better. It will look great on Lady de Laney.

Oh yes, big improvement on an already lovely piece.
It doesn't hurt that the color is one of my favorites.

The Silk color is called Pumpkin Pie from Silk Baron, Dona. He's on eBay now. Affordable Silk  with reasonable shipping.

The straps are not permanent. They are trim strips pinned on for effect. I have Strips of stilk that I will use for the Straps and sew them on before I put in the lining, then off to the Shoe repair for Grommetting.

Both versions are very nice!  I missed the skirt color, but can't wait to see photos as the rest comes along!  Thank-you for sharing.

LOVE the color!  The second version will be much more flattering to the figure.  I like that now we can see too different looks made with the same fabric and trim- just goes to show that no two gowns are alike, it's the details that make all the difference!

Coming up for some air...The Orange Bodice is back from the Shoe repair having been grommetted, 26 in all. The lined Breches done the other day. And progress on the Blue Courtesan. That Bodice was dropped off for Grommets in Silver.

I have jeweled pieces on order with oval Sapphire Stones on a 25mm by 18mm Silver setting that I am going to hand sew adn pearl on straps yet to be made and hand sewn inside the bodice.

I have all the pieces cut out for the Blue Ensemble and the Silk from Silk Baron came in today for the gathered Skirt that I am going to underbustle. I have another piece ordered as well. Hope I do not need it. The prange Couresan straps are 19" in total length.

Progress so far...

Spent 4 1/2 hours in the Dungeon making the Blue Courtesan Overskirt. There are 4 pulleys to draw up ther skirting. With more of the skirt tacked onto the waist band to give more of a tiered effect. There are 3 panels at 90" long, 2" sewed hem that will not come out.

The Powder Blue Bengaline shimmers in the Natural light. The trim adds sparkle. I found the trim to both Clourtesan ensembles at SR HArris. They are silk ribbons.

Lady DeLaney!

I am going to do a similar skirt in the Orange with the multi tiered bustling. I am set to get the Blue Short Breeches done today, as well as make the straps for the Blue bodice.
The trim makes the Blue Sparkle. As does the trim for the Orange.

You might want to consider a new fan to go with your Courtesans. An Italian styled one that looks like a book on a stick like an example of a fan Lynn McMasters made for the Queen at the Northern California Pleasure faire years ago.

But where and how to carry it?

Good question!!

I was thinking of sewing a button the waistbands of your skirts where you then can hang a fan from them if they have a decent enough cord.

Being re-worked as this is not what I had in mind or planned. The front tab will be slightly longer and thinner and the tabs will angle slightly up from the front being thinner as well. The applique is coming off as is the trim on each tab. The trim will be placed up the front in the middle of the bodice and then along the top edge all the way to the back. This dress is a cross between Dangerous Beauty the Orange intro dress in the movie and the one pictured here. There will be two more tabs added to each side of the front as well

The skirt will not have an underskirt but will be split and very full flaring and slightly bustled with breeches worn underneath.

*whew*  Good thing Kathy is fond of posting showoff shots of her in progress stuff!

The rework of the bodice is better than the first go round.  It has a much better look about it.  Can't wait to see how the rest of it turns out!!

Last night I was getting the Overskirt to the Orange Venetian Courtesan. Dupioni Silk is lovely to work with. Yet I was struggling a bit. Perhaps it was all the yardage because like with the Blue Overskirt, the panels are 2 yards long to ge the desired fullness and poof when bustled.

Photos coming as I get ready to go back down to the dungeon. I have beading to do on the shoulder strap that will attach to the arm band. I have more silk coming to do the hanging sleeves that will finish off the ensemble.

The Blue Bodice is at the Shoe Repair getting grommetted.

The Burnt Orange Courtesan is coming along. The rest of the Silk came in so I can now get the hanging part of the sleeve done that attaches to the Arm band. Then finish the connectors with beading.

More photos to follow.

Looks good with the skirt. Question though... Does the skirt come fully around so as NOT show the legs. in the picture it looks as if it has a gap and it should come fully around not showing the legs but have a split

I removed the gap in the overskirt. Looks better.

Finish some loose ends on other stuff, get the Blue Bodice back from the Shoe repair, then back to work on a Tudor gown until the Jewels I ordered from Sapphire and Safge come in.
