Ike's track shifted during the night further east/north. Now they're forecasting landfall between Freeport and Galveston.

After our Aunt and Uncle already evacuated off the Island at Corpus Christi.

We're leaving. University of Houston hasn't canceled classes, but they can suck a big one today, because we're getting out of the coast/south houston and just going up north houston a bit to get out of the low-lying south section where I currently am. We're staying with my uncle. ... I hope this doesn't get too bad,, I only have enough ramen noodles for a week! haha

City of Galveston has a mandatory evac, not the entire county, along with Jamaica Beach, Tiki Island, San Leon, & Bacliff.  Essentially, all coastal communities.

A friend sent me this storm tracker link yesterday; I really like it:
www.stormpulse.com

At the moment, it appears to be tracking more and more northeast. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and make a WAG that this thing follows a path much like Rita did, which puts those of us in Bryan/College Station on the drier side of the storm.

...still gonna fill water jugs and haul the hurricane lamps down from the bookcase, though...ain't my first rodeo. Or storm.

As much as we're worried about ourselves here in Houston, has anybody heard any news from Festmum?
We've got a lot of resources that will roll in as the eye passes, she's going to have to depend on self help a lot more then we do.

I've been thinking that "Ike" isn't a good name for a hurricane either.  We all know that Ike Turner was tempestuous.

I've been wondering what's up with festmum, too.

My mom panicked last night so evacuated to San Antonio last night - keep your fingers crossed for the Gulf Coast!

Last report I heard there were two Royal Navy ships at Grand Turk with emergency supplies and aid. But that isn't going to
put a roof over anyone's head soon. I wish there was some way we could check on Festmum too.

From what I heard this morning you might as well throw Houston into the mix cause it looks like Ike is heading for them to.

Heard from my Navy son this morning -- they put to sea on a light carrier and escorts with doctors/supplies/etc and are heading towards the Gulf in case they're needed after Ike passes.

Parts of Galveston Island are already flooded. CNN has a chopper providing video coverage.
