I did finally find some more battery powered christmas lights, but they're not as nice as the ones I bought several years ago.  We also picked up some solar lights ourselves, at least for the door to the tent.

... PK and Bastrop parks are not expected to recover for decades. ...
Last year, we visited Sherwood and stayed in Bastrop (as you know Doña). Driving back and forth through Bastrop Park, I thought it was such a beautiful drive. I know it's going to be a major shock to see next February when we return to the area.

Well I can tell you it looks horrible!  I live in Smithville and I drive HWY 71 every morning to work and it is just devistating. They have been covering as much of the burnt area as possible with the green grass grow stuff but still you can see all around it.  They are having a HUGE cleanup this Saturday so if anyone is interested in the details let me know and I will send it to them.

I believe that's the rubble of Kandra's (Wee Peeple) home in Bastrop

Oh yeah... I heard about Kandra's house.  Any word on how they are doing?

I talked to her Saturday. She seemed to be happy to be at faire & was doing her best to put a good face on things. Better than I would have in her place.

Her shop is not one that I would normally go into, since I have no small ones myself, but we pass by it numerous times as we wander through the Pecan Grove at Scarby.  I think next trip down, I'll get something for my nieces. I'm sure Kandra could use all the business she can get right now.

I am on Kandra's mailing list, and she tells an amazing story of the fire as both a tragedy and a blessing in her newsletter

Thank you for posting Kendra's page, Raevyncait. What a beautiful spirit she has. Wish I were visiting TRF this season. I'd surely stop in to her shop to purchase one of her dolls and shake her hand.
